Nyereg étterem — Restaurant in Budapest

Good food and right next to the Széchenyi Thermal Bath and the Heroes square, so a great location as well. Service is fast but the waiter seemed a little rude. First he didn't let us pay separately and then when we asked if we could pay in cash+card (to finish off the local currency as it was my last day there), he said no, which was baffling as it's pretty common in western Europe and I was used to it. But as we didn't have enough cash in Hungarian Forints, we told we'd pay in Euros. He converted the amount to Euros with a bad exchange rate and asked us to pay and we did. The worst part was that he refused to give back the change in Euros and gave us even more Forints. Not sure if this madness is the restaurant policy or just...

I don’t think that there is any restaurant in Budapest that is worse than this one. In 25 years of my life I haven’t met a waiter, that would be more rude than the one that was serving us. He was literally throwing stuff on our table. He did not say any word. He was extremely rude. And now let’s talk About the food. What you can see on the picture is a 10€ goulash. It’s literally water with vegetables. I did not have a singel piece of meat in there. And finally the drinks. Just one big catastrophe. Never again. Budapest is such a gorgeus place, this restaurant is a shame…if you don’t want to be disrespected from waiter and disgusted with food, please don’t...

Where to begin... The location (close to lake) of the restaurant might be nice at lunch time / afternoon but in the evening there are hundreds of mosquitoes that will eat you alive. Me and my family ended up with at least 20 bites on each leg. When we asked the waitress if we can move to a table inside the restaurant, she said that we couldn't go there and we had to stay outside. We ate our dinner as quickly as possible and left the place. The food deserves an extra chapter as well. For that price, one would have expected the gastronomy experience of his life but what we got were under average burgers and poor goulash that definitely doesn't flatter...
