We just stayed at the Suites in room #4 from 10/5-10/7. Room was clean, but the noise made it horrible and really ruined our stay. We thought it would be worthy to share that we had a very okay experience and we felt disappointed that we weren’t advised before hand (right when we booked) that a huge corporate party right below us would be taking place. We had a “I am sorry” gift on our table, which was considerate but too late. We should have known about this prior to arrival. We would have reconsidered our booking and went somewhere else. This was clearly known prior as the woman in the lobby said it happens 1x a year.
It was extremely loud, the base was shaking our room nonstop you couldn’t even have a conversation (this was for hours). We weren’t able to rest after a long day touring. We actually ended up leaving for a few hours to avoid the disruption. Then when we arrived back, there were alcohol bottles and cigarettes all over the front of the entrance way, it was disgusting. Also drunk people asking for rides and acting obnoxiously.
In addition, we weren’t asked if we wanted anything or needed anything upon departure. The 2 ladies at the front just kept talking to themselves and were completely disregarding our departure. Lastly, we heard them talking this AM which was disruptive this morning before we even left our bed. We were in room 4, which is close to the entrance and very noisy and loud.
We were disappointed and wouldn’t stay here again. The lack of honesty, disruptive nature and cold demeanor was...
Read moreI spent a few days here after the end of a tour of south Iceland I could see some muted northern lights from my room via camera (there were a lot of clouds, a lot of city lights, and reflections on the glass) the room was spacious and the views of the city and harbor/ocean lovely. The bed was very comfortable, and there was a mini fridge stocked with water, some milk for coffee, and sodas (included in the room booking) There was room for 3 or 4 Skyr Puff cheese (not really yogurt due to rennet) staff was friendly, professional and very helpful They booked a northern lights tour (4 - 5 hours) with HappyTours, who has an SUV rather than a bus, so fewer people and they pickup at the hotel entrance. The walk to the center of town area for sight seeing and the particular restaurant I wanted was a bit much after a long day walking in the chill and occasional rain, so they called a cab for me. Best taxi rides ever, very friendly and informative cab drivers (unfortunately I’m not sure of the taxi company name, but I think the restaurant summoned the same one via a dedicated device).
All in all, I was very happy to stay at Tower Suites
Note: there is a coffee shop and a burger place (upscale, try the lamb burger), on the ground floor of the building, as of the date of this review.
The elevators are lined with images of Iceland. Really cool. Image attached.
I did see porpoises in the harbor early one morning (via...
Read moreFor my 24th birthday, my girlfriend and I decided to do something truly special. We have lived in Reykjavík our whole live and we thought we had experienced most of what the city had to offer. Tower Suites proved us wrong.
The experience of taking a long, hot bath with a unique and sublime view over early morning Reykjavík, with the sun coming up and the smell of coffee in the air, was something I will never forget. It made my see my beautiful city in a completely new light.
Everything was so pure and effortless because of the self-serve model, perfect for the modern individualist, the sovereign individual who is concerned about privacy and who knows what he wants. Checking in was a breeze. Having a drink from the self-service bar was both fun and energy-saving, since there was no need to have a pointless small talk with a bartender with a fake smile. Mixing our own cocktails at the 20th floor with a night-time view of the glowing city below was a perfect mix of the freedom of home and the luxury of "once in a lifetime".
The bed was one of the best ones I have slept in for a long time and it was easy to connect to the powerful Bluetooth sound-bar located under the TV. The shower and bath was amazing.
To sum, Tower Suites is certainly one of the most unique and enjoyable ways to spend an evening (and morning) in Reykjavík. If this is in your budget, stop your search right now, you've found the...
