On my first night in Dublin, I had a terrifying experience – my classmates accidentally took my phone and bag, leaving me alone in a foreign city after midnight with no money, no phone, and no way to contact anyone. I was panicked, scared, and completely vulnerable. I stood near the venue’s door, hoping someone would come back for me, and yes – I cried. I was so scared. Anyone with a shred of empathy could have seen that I was so desperate in distress. My classmates noticed they got my phone and bag, they came back to find me. But it was half hour later. Imagine whats in my mind, how can i not be panicked after half hour long waiting in midnight? i am a human. Instead, what I experienced the next day was beyond shocking. A young male security guard approached me aggressively in front of my classmates and said, “If you ever act like a drama queen again, you’re straight out!” He humiliated me, without even asking what had happened. Not only was he disrespectful and heartless, but his words and attitude were cruel, completely unprofessional, and emotionally abusive. If he had taken me aside privately to ask or explain, I would have respected that. But instead, he chose to publicly shame and belittle me, for showing emotion during a moment of genuine fear. His behavior was disgusting and disgraceful. No one—especially a young woman in a vulnerable situation—should be treated this way. This man does not deserve to represent Dublin or Ireland!!! A country known for its warmth and hospitality. He completely ruined my impression of Ireland and left me with a memory I will never forget for the wrong reasons.
