The Temple Bar Distillery Store — Local services in Dublin

Made the mistake of going here when we first arrived and tired/jet lagged. Complete tourist rip-off. The tastings and bottles are twice anywhere else. I had three tastings and bought two bottles and my bill was 765 euros. Worst was 13 year old Yellow Spot which I found later at the Jameson Distillery for 150 euros. They charged 56 euros for a tasting on a 150 euro bottle. My price was 500 euros for two tastings and the bottle. That means I paid more than twice the real price. Stupid me for not checking on-line prices first. The receipt is one line item - no itemization or tax is broken out - can't even claim what you bought - genius, huh? My tip - wait and buy when you exit at the Dublin Airport. Great whiskey store and Duty Free. Stay away...

Being smack dab in the middle of the Temple Bar area, we sort of expected this to be nothing more than a tourist trap. Fortunately, we were wrong. The staff was extremely helpful and helped us pick out a bottle of whiskey to bring home for a friend- something that they wouldn't be able to find at home. He offered us several samples until we found the perfect bottle. Was it a little higher price than we could have gotten outs of the Temple Bar area? Nice selection, staff didn't have much knowledge when being asked about the whiskey and they took my glass before it was empty, over priced but then again Temple bar is grossly over priced. Sent the mephew to ask for a method & madness and to ask ask which of them she recommended for the option he asked and she charged and gave glasses of dunville which is more expensive and not the same brand at all!
