Great traditional shotengai arcade with many shops selling traditional wares. One shop specialises in Origami or paper art craft n it sells many beautiful pieces large or small which makes great souvenirs- prices are very reasonable, another shop sold many varieties of sukajan jackets of different qualities- much cheaper here than in Osaka or Tokyo- highly recommended. Another shop sold steel kitchen knives/tools n even swords. Many reasonably priced food shops, the seafood restaurant nearest entrance has delicious fresh seafood at affordable prices n there is even a famous Unagi eel restaurant in the arcade. Another interesting feature of this arcade is that many of the intricate artistic monuments which are carried on platforms during matsuri (festival) are stored here n one can view them from close up. This arcade may not be an upbeat shopping area but it has its own charms n definitely worthy of a visit. Do try the traditional dessert of hot azuki beans with mochi n take a picture with the matsuri monument. Lots of great unique souvenirs which are reasonably priced here. Well...
