Review of Petrosains, The Discovery Centre Petrosains, The Discovery Centre in Kuala Lumpur is widely praised as an engaging and educational science museum suitable for all ages. Located in the Suria KLCC mall, its central location makes it accessible for both locals and tourists.
Atmosphere and Exhibits The centre is spacious and filled with interactive exhibits, ranging from nanotechnology (Molecule Nano World) and oil & gas displays, to robotics labs and animatronic dinosaurs (Dino Trek 2).
Signature attractions like the Dark Ride take visitors on a journey through Malaysia’s rainforests, mountains, and oceans—an experience blending technology with storytelling.
There are plenty of hands-on stations making science fun, including tech-driven games, VR Formula One rides, Mars Rover simulations, and scientific experiments. Many reviewers note that the museum is much larger than it appears from outside and easily warrants 2-4 hours for a thorough visit.
The centre is not only focused on petroleum science; sections promote environmental education and sustainable energy in entertaining and accessible ways.
Visitor Experience Family-friendly: Repeatedly described as excellent for children, teens, and even adults, thanks to its interactive approach. Kids can conduct experiments, play puzzle games, and immerse themselves in themed zones such as prehistoric or space areas.
Staff and accessibility: Visitors highlight friendly, helpful staff and decent accessibility (though crowded lifts in the mall can be a minor challenge for those with strollers or wheelchairs).
Value: Entry pricing is affordable; many guests consider it "worth every ringgit." Tickets can be booked online or purchased at self-service kiosks. Extra rides or VR activities may cost a bit more but are generally deemed worthwhile.
Tips and Drawbacks Arrive early to avoid queues, especially on weekends or holidays. The centre limits the number of visitors for a better experience.
Some guests felt that certain areas could be better ventilated or air-conditioned, especially during busy hours.
A few exhibits may be less engaging for very young children or the elderly, but overall, the majority found plenty to enjoy regardless of age.
In summary: Petrosains is a top-tier science centre in Southeast Asia—educational, entertaining, and affordable. It is ideal for families, science enthusiasts, or anyone looking for something more interactive than a traditional museum. With well-maintained facilities, friendly staff, and a wide variety of exhibits, a visit here is likely to spark curiosity and inspire...

Read moreI came here at 2pm on a Thursday and buying the ticket required only 5 mins 10mins of wait time. The staffs are really nice and helpful as well and gives the necessary direction I needed 🥹
The interior is very modern, lots of interactive art and science that people can tweak around and discover with! I love how they implement many physics theories as well such as light polarization, staric electric circuit, frequency, light refraction, and it is sucy a surreal experience as well
Not only that, there are other things to discover with such as the offshore oil rigs, the formula car, molecules, space exploration, the beginning of life, and many more!
For adult and as a foreigner, it costs RM 35 which I'd say a worth it experience :)
Keep in mind there are many childrens roaming around the area and they tend to be a bit annoying since you do have to wait turns and you can only play at each experience for a while or they might be getting impatient
I suggest making a reservation to make the process of ordering the ticket a lot easier, and I do suggest to come early to avoid many people or childrens so you can enjoy the full experience as well :)
Overall, it is an impressive place to learn science, what an incredible museum and it is definitely worth it :)
