Reggae on The River Melaka — Restaurant in Malacca

If I could give 0 stars I would, the guy on the door wouldn't show me the prices or tell me how much, asked for a rum and coke and asked how much it would be, he then proceeds to go and make the drink without telling me the price and then says it's 45rm plus a 10% service charge so basically 50rm give or take. That's ridiculous pricing, I asked why it's so expensive he says he's done a double shot even without me asking for that and I say I'm all good thank you I'm not paying for that and went to leave he wanted to argue with me about it and saying I didn't say that I didn't want double shot and I say in response I never asked for it. He then proceeds to throw the drink into the river after getting loud with me, please stay away from this place, the drinks didn't even come from the same venue, came from next door, the guy at the door who I assume is either the owner or manager or whatever he chooses to call himself, is an absolute joke and he's lucky he didn't end up in the river that night, he definitely needed to cool off and I would've been more than happy to do so. AVOID THIS...

Met some friends and came here for a drink. Didn't have food but gave food 4/5 so it didn't affect the total score!! Nice guys, very helpful and not too "needy" to get us through the door.

It's a place I used to frequent around 2017, different dynamics compared to then, but still a fun place to visit.

Sitting right on the river having a good chat with new friends- can't get any better.

UPDATE. Few months later and we return to Melaka, walking down the river and we see staff member of Reggae On The River throwing scrunched up napkins into the river. Horrible to see and we had just been talking about how clean the river was looking compared to previous visits.

They can smile and chat all they want to customers, but doing this is terrible.

I've now changed the stars - hopefully the owner will have some sort of meeting with his staff members. Had I been on the same side of the river I would have spoken to a member...

My review might not influence your decision to visit this place. But visiting this place at the first night of my trip ruined my subsequent days because of the FAKE BEERS/COUNTERFEIT ALCOHOL I had on that rainy night.

If any of the future patron experience an intense headache the next day after taking their alcohol beverages, don’t be surprise that it is due to the beverages.

If you want your business to go on well, be honest with what you offer. We don’t mind to pay more. But serving some counterfeit alcohol is unethical and god knows what effect it will bring to our health in the future.

NO NEXT TIME despite the more than 4 stars reviews which might be some bought reviews. But the same complaints like mine might be spotted somewhere in between the fake...
