My wife and I chose Eden’s for a massage on our honeymoon because they were highly rated on Google and close to our next scheduled excursion. We arrived early and filled out the forms prior to our massage and I noted on mine that I was experiencing some soreness/stiffness in my lower back and would prefer to have that be an area of focus. We chose the deep tissue 90 minute massage thinking that would be the best to choose from considering our needs.
The check-in process went smoothly and we get to our massage tables and begin. Pressure was good and the massage therapist checked in with me to make sure everything is satisfactory but I get about halfway through the massage and it’s nearly been all shoulder and upper back despite having specifically made it clear on my form that I’d like some focus on my lower back. When it was time to turn over I asked my therapist if she could spend a little more time on my lower back to which she refused and replied she could not as it was a full body massage.
Ok sure but if you specify a focus area and receive next to no attention in that area then what is the point of filling out the pre massage form in the first place? I didn’t argue and turned over.
After the massage was finished we collected our belongings and went downstairs where we were met by our therapists. My therapist came right up to me and started to explain which massage we should have chosen vs the one we paid for… ok ok ok. I attempted to explain that I didn’t just ONLY want a lower back massage, but at least SOME time spent on my lower back, which received barely any attention. My shoulders on the other hand will be feeling great tomorrow. Additionally, we asked what is the point of filling out the form and identifying a focus area if it’s just going to be ignored by the therapist? She responded again by trying to point to the other massages that were available.
Whatever, I’m not going to argue with the therapist in the lobby. Chalk it up to miscommunication but I was disappointed that some of my expectations were not met.
Edit: after seeing the response from the owner and basically blaming the issue on me misunderstanding the value of the form we filled out prior to the massage I’m changing my review from 3 to 1 stars. I understand you have certain massages that tailor to specific body parts but I wasn’t asking for an entire additional massage. A few extra minutes for an area I had requested attention on before the massage started would not have been disruptive to 90 minute massage I paid for… each persons body is different. I wasn’t asking for a completely customized experience. If the therapist is unable or unwilling to spend a few extra moments on a specific area as requested then this should be made perfectly clear to customers prior to engaging.
Perhaps the form we a required to fill out prior to getting a massage should say in bold letters, DO NOT SELECT A BODY PART FOR FOCUS IF YOU CHOOSE THESE (xxxxx) MASSAGES BECAUSE THEY ARE BOT PERSONALIZED.
I, like my wife, receive regular massages from all over the world and have never been denied a simple request in this manner especially if it was identified prior to the massage.
Not sure that a few extra moments on a specific body part qualifies as a “freestyle massage” whatever that is but I really don’t think I was out of line asking if the massage could include a few moments in an area I had previously requested on your form.
Again I blame miscommunication as the prime culprit here but please take this into consideration for...
Read moreAfter we left a review, they even lied about how they explained the courses on their respond. I can’t believe how they treated the customer in this way. On the phone, they told us the couples massage for 90 mins costs USD 120. But when we arrived, they charged us USD 150. But we did not complain about this price change cause the written price on the board said USD150. But certainly it was not a pleasant thing. We did not ask for MORE time that we were given. We only asked to massage the back side little more before flipping over. Simple apology would be enough that they did not explain the session clearly beforehand and the form (specifically asking where you want to get your massage more intensively) means nothing. Then we could have changed something more suitable for us.
If you cannot specify the area of focus on your body, then that should be explicitly advised beforehand. We ordered 90 mins total body massage and we were never told beforehand that there is a specific protocol where you cannot ask, or specify an area on the body that is stiff/sore etc. during the massage we asked to massage our back/shoulder a little more since it was not given much attention. That is all we asked, not another extra massage, but just a few minutes to be given to the area we had presumed (incorrectly, apparently) would be given some attention however this request was refused: “no es posible”. I have received countless massages all over the world and I have never heard this response from any place/therapist if I mentioned a specific area on my body where I felt some tension. Then they told us that we should have instead ask ed for the 30 minute back massage. If that was the case, perhaps the front desk or therapists could have advised/consulted us when we filled out the form before the massage? For that matter, are you guys even reviewing the form before the massage? They have many good reviews but I personally don’t recommend if you want to get a good service. Please read some bad reviews here. Many people get totally ignored what they asked for. One person who has an allergic reaction to mineral oil specifically asked for the therapist to not to use on oil, but they still used the oil because it is their PROTOCOL. If you want to be treated as a valuable client, this is not the place you want to go. Where do you draw the line on your protocol? When does the customers request stop being considered? I could understand if the request was outlandish or completely out of the question however, if a customer has a request for a specific area to be focused on, the receptionist/therapist could at least speak to/consult with the customer somewhat on the expectations for the duration of the massage Instead of just blatantly ignoring what was written/explained on the form by the customer to avoid future...
Read moreI discovered this place on google and because of its 4,5 stars I decided to check it out. Careful, this is my personal opinion as a professional masseuse myself. I’m sure plenty of people would be and are satisfied with the quality of the massages. Personally, I would not recommend if you have a high standard. I asked for a deep tissue of 90 min and what I got was a relaxing massage with (in some parts*) high pressure. She did a lot of the same mouvements, a lot of “soft” kind of mouvement, she hurt my bone when I ask more pressure on the glutes. On my legs, she did a relaxing massage sort of “caressing” which I hate.
I specifically wrote on their sheets I have water retention in the legs and she did nothing about it, didn’t stimulate the lymphatic points and instead of making her mouvement up, going to the heart, she made them go to my feet, which is a no no for water retention ! I also put I had a tendinitis in my wrists and again, didn’t do anything about it. When turning around, she did not put the roller under my legs or anything under my head which is for me, a must for comfort. This is why I was really not satisfied with the “deep” tissue massage. I’m sure she’s really good in relaxing tho. I still left 15% tip for her effort and time and put 3 stars because well, the place is really nice, they offer you a snack and water after the massage and the price is affordable, but the massage in itself i would give 1.5/5 As I said I’m a masseuse and I have a really high standard which was met in other places but certainly not here.
And also, they asked us to pay first, which was weird for me because normally, you pay after the service.
Would not...
