TULUM MINI GUIDE! A long weekend in the boho capital of Mexico is such a vibe. Below is a guide to my favorite sights, eats & places to stay. What are your favorites in Tulum? BEST SIGHTS AZULIK UH MAY A stunning art installation in the middle of the jungle. Step into a dome that rises up out of the jungle, filled with fluid sculptures, tree branches, plants and ceramics boasting earthy tones of tan, green, brown & white. CENOTE CORAZON Heart-shaped cenote in the middle of the jungle. CENOTE NICTE HA The large natural pool sits surrounded by rocks in the middle of the jungle. The water is incredibly clear, filled with lily pads, fish & underwater gardens. CENOTE VESICA A gorgeous fresh water cenote that has been converted into a day club, surrounded by boho loungers, branch canopies, a sun deck & open air restaurant in the middle of the jungle. COBA RUINS The Mayan complex of pyramids and temples is about an hour from Tulum. These ruins are unique because you can bicycle through the ancient city to the different complexes. THE HAND A massive wooden hand rises six feet out of the jungle for stunning views of the surrounding treetops. TULUM BEACH ROAD This 6 mile dirt path is the beating heart of Tulum, home to the best boutique hotels, restaurants, bars & beach clubs. It truly is a vibe. Explore both by bicycle and on foot. VAGALUME TULUM The boho beach club scene is plentiful in Tulum, and one of the best is Vagalume. An Instaworthy bridge held up by a pair of hands leads to a stretch of beach filled with wooden loungers, luxe grey cushions and boho white umbrellas. VEN A LA LUZ The iconic wooden sculpture created by Daniel Popper towers 33-feet high in the Tulum Sculpture Park. It used to sit on Tulum Beach Road at the entrance to Ahau, but now it’s set a few feet back from the road and requires an “entry fee.” BEST EATS Arca, Casa Banana, Delcielo, Gitano Meze, Hartwood, Kitchen Table, La Zebra, Matcha Mama, Posada Margherita, Raw Love, Taqueria Honorio & Ziggy’s BEST STAYS Ahau, La Valise, La Zebra, Nest Tulum, Radhoo & Zorba Tulum #tulum #tulummexico #ferngully #mexicotravel #cenotes

A Secluded Jungle Retreat with Untapped Potential Radhoo Tulum offers a tranquil escape into the jungle side of Tulum, with villas arranged around a central pool, creating an intimate and peaceful setting. The concept follows the signature “secluded jungle retreat” aesthetic, and while the atmosphere is charming, certain aspects prevent it from reaching its full potential.

The Stay: A Relaxing End to the Trip The villas are spacious, well-designed, and provide a true sense of privacy. However, guests expecting direct beach access should note that Radhoo is located across the road from its partner hotel, where access to beach facilities is not guaranteed. Securing a proper sunbed required checking with reception in advance, and in our case, only bean bag seats were available—a minor inconvenience but something to be aware of for those prioritizing beach time. Most of our stay was spent unwinding by the pool, which had a relaxed, easygoing atmosphere. Complimentary bike rentals were a nice touch, allowing for some exploration. The staff was attentive, and service at the pool was efficient, though with the bar so close, it was just as easy to walk up and order directly.

Dining & Atmosphere: Good, But Could Be So Much More Radhoo’s dining setup is one of its weaker points. Unlike the beautifully curated aesthetic found throughout the hotel, the restaurant space is minimalistic to the point of feeling unfinished—just a collection of tables in an open area next to the bar, lacking the inviting ambience one would expect. The food itself was fine but unremarkable. The breakfast, while included, was nothing particularly special, and overall, the culinary offerings lacked creativity. That said, the ceviche was a highlight—visually stunning, fresh, and full of flavour. Cocktails were also excellent and more reasonably priced compared to other hotels in the area.

Missed Opportunities & Suggested Improvements Radhoo has undeniable potential but needs refinement to stand out among Tulum’s high-end boutique hotels. The jungle setting is beautiful, but currently, only the suites offer the immersive elevated jungle view. Creating a dedicated space—perhaps a raised lounge or rooftop bar—where all guests can enjoy this scenery would greatly enhance the experience. Additionally, expanding the wellness offerings, such as an in-house spa or yoga/ritual sessions, would align perfectly with the tranquil atmosphere and attract guests looking for a holistic retreat.

Final Verdict Radhoo Tulum is a solid choice for those seeking a quiet, nature-immersed stay at a slightly more reasonable price point than beachfront hotels. However, without unique amenities to set it apart—such as an improved restaurant, more guest areas, or dedicated wellness experiences—it risks feeling more like a beautiful backdrop than a fully engaging retreat.

Would I return? Not unless they create that elevated jungle-view space and expand their offerings. Otherwise, while relaxing, it could become monotonous for longer stays.

My Personal Rating: B (Good, but missing key elements to make it...

We were just WOW’d by our stay at Radhoo. Where do I begin?

• The service is top notch—Anna at the front desk always recommended the best restaurants, experiences, etc and was more than glad to help with any request (no matter how obscure). Servers Alfredo and Acyil, and others whose names I can’t remember, always went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of.

• We were greeted with Prosecco and shown to our room where they had so kindly decorated with a happy birthday banner and balloons to celebrate my birthday.

• They think of every need before you need it—a dispenser of filtered drinking water filled daily, sunblock next to the pool, insect repellent in your room, fresh beach towels daily in a cute beach bag for your use during your stay. We had mentioned we were going to take a day trip to Chichen Itza and Anna suggested she can have the chef pull together box lunches for us. What a kind gesture!

• They have 24-hr AC! Which may seem like a given, but most hotels in this area do not have this.

• Reliable internet 👌

• The toilet always flushed. Strange thing to add to a hotel review, I know. This is not always a given in Tulum, as you will learn as you do your pre-trip research, but you can count on Radhoo for your plumbing needs lol.

• The free breakfast! Wow. This is no Best Western continental. Smoked salmon and spinach Benedict over a homemade English muffin was just one of the options (and my favorite). Also included was fruit, granola, and yogurt, and free coffee and juice. We felt so spoiled.

• They offer daily fun activities, complimentary for their guests, such as yoga, painting on the beach, a ceramics/pottery class, mezcal tasting, etc.

• Their sister hotel, Encantada is across the street and you can reserve day beds on the beach free of charge. (With shaded huts if that’s you’re thing). They have servers to take care of your piña colada and ceviche needs while you bask in the sun.

• Valet was always attentive so we didn’t have to search for parking.

• They are located just a 5-10 min walk from popular spots such as Gitano and Hartwood. (And don’t miss Wild, a short walk in the other direction—our favorite dinner during our stay!)

We can’t wait to come back and stay at Radhoo. We were just blown away by them and excited to sing...
