We recently had the pleasure of booking a trek to Everest Base Camp with the Nepal Hiking Company, and it was an absolutely five-star experience from start to finish!
Our guide, Ram Krishna, was an absolute gem. He's not only incredibly knowledgeable about the region, but he also has a passion for capturing moments with his videos and dancing to entertain us along the journey. Ram Krishna's organization skills ensured that our trek ran smoothly, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.
The Sherpas, Ropesh, Vikas, and Hemanto, were instrumental in making this trip memorable. Ropesh was always there with a helping hand and a warm smile, which was a real morale booster. Vikas's strength and positive attitude were contagious, keeping our spirits high even during challenging parts of the trek.
Hemanto, though initially shy, quickly won us over with his affable nature, making us feel like part of the family. The journey from Kathmandu to Everest Base Camp was nothing short of amazing. We enjoyed trekking through breathtaking landscapes, meeting fascinating people along the way, exploring the local culture, savoring delicious food, and experiencing comfortable stays in the mountains. And reaching our ultimate goal, Everest Base Camp, was a dream come true.
The icing on the cake was the helicopter ride back, offering stunning aerial views of the Himalayas that will be etched in our memories forever.
We would like to share two valuable pieces of advice for future trekkers. While Nepal Hiking suggested 2 hours of walking every day as training, it's essential to understand that this may not be sufficient preparation for the high altitude and thin air of the Himalayas. The lack of proper training can lead to a painful experience. We recommend simulating the lower oxygen levels you'll encounter by climbing stairs with a mask and a backpack. Additionally, incorporating yoga exercises into your training routine can help with proper stretching and prevent aches and pains. Our suggestion to Nepal Hiking is to consider creating a comprehensive six-month training plan for trekkers to better set expectations and maximize the chances of a successful and pain-free trek.
The other piece of advice for future trekkers is to be sure to allocate extra days in your schedule for potential flight cancellations due to bad weather. This is a common occurrence in the region, and you don't want to miss out on your return journey.
Finally, we want to give a special shoutout to Sanjay, our local guide in Kathmandu, and extend our gratitude to Bishnu, the CEO of Nepal Adventure Hiking, for leading a company that values excellence and customer satisfaction. Bishnu's commitment to providing good trekking experiences is evident in every aspect of our journey. We must mention the warm hospitality of Pursotham at the Kalish Kutee Hotel. His kindness and attentive service made our stay in Kathmandu exceptionally comfortable, and we appreciate his efforts in ensuring our time in the city was enjoyable. With a fantastic team led by Bishnu, and the guidance of Ram Krishna and the Sherpas, our trip to Everest Base Camp with Nepal Hiking Company was truly a remarkable experience. This adventure met all our expectations, and we would wholeheartedly recommend this company to anyone looking for an unforgettable trek in...
Read moreFrom the start, Bishnu was terrific at being very very timely on email responses and answering all questions we had. With the many challenges that Nepal has had over the last few months we did question doing the trek, but Bishnu kept us well informed, reassured us gently and ensured our safety. The flexibility of the company as to when we started the trek was amazing. We were never pushed to do a particular date and it was largely built around our plans and wants. We booked a group tour of the Annapurna circuit and Poonhill, when we got to Kathmandu we found out that others had cancelled, so we had a private tour just the two of us. We got picked up at the airport by Bipin who was a great person to have as the first friendly face we met. Then we met Bishnu the night before the trek. He answered all the questions we had, no matter how big or small, and made sure we had all the gear we needed. We were very thankful for his support before starting. Sujan was our guide. Sujan was very attentive. Gave us a lot of options as the trek went on. He loved a game of cards and was very friendly. Sujan also made sure that if there was anyone else on the track lost or unwell he would help. He is very kind and customer focused. He shared the knowledge he had of the region and mountains generously, and did his best to answer all questions along the way. Bishal was our porter. He was the best! Training to be a guide hopefully in the future. His knowledge was amazing and he really cared about our experience too. Each night be brought us apple and pomegranate and greeted us with a smile at every destination. Getting over the pass with some altitude challenges Bishal was very reassuring and helpful in that situation. Nothing was too big or an issue for him. Thanks for the trek and...
Read moreWe recently completed a 16-day Everest Base Camp trek with Nepal Hiking Adventure, and the experience immensely exceeded our expectations. Our guides, Tilak and Dorchi, and our porters, Suresh and Kaji, were outstanding and played a crucial role in making this journey memorable.
From the moment we started, everything was perfect. We initially planned additional days at Namche Bazaar and Dingboche, but upon meeting fellow trekkers, we adjusted our plans. Everyone was incredibly accommodating. After reaching the base camp, we decided to extend our trip to Cho La Pass and Gokyo Lake. Our guides made all the necessary arrangements seamlessly, and our porters were kind enough to accommodate these changes as well.
Every night, Tilak conducted a thorough debrief of the day's activities and provided a detailed plan for the next day, ensuring we always knew what to expect. Both Tilak and Dorchi took exceptional care of us, anticipating our needs before we even had to ask.
The trek itself was filled with fun and laughter. We spent time being silly and goofy together, bringing back lots of memories in videos and pictures to look back on. The team shared the highs together, and they made the lows much more bearable. They were always there when we needed them. In our free time, we enjoyed playing cards, carom, and even pool as a team, which added to the camaraderie.
This trip has been incredibly memorable, and I wholeheartedly recommend Tilak and Dorchi as guides, Suresh and Kaji as porters, and Nepal Hiking Adventure for anyone considering an Everest Base Camp trek. We are super thankful for their support and couldn't have asked for a better experience. We're now facing post-trek withdrawal symptoms because of how amazing...
