This gym is a fitness wonderland! My favourite part of my gym membership is that I can bring friends for up to two visits each for free. This gives me a chance to show it off and share the joy I get here with those I care about. I suffered severe depression in my late teens and truly believe that my Les Mills membership helped save my life and has supported me to improve my quality of life long term. The group fitness classes provide me with the motivation to push myself every workout. I have discovered strength and resilience I didn't know I had. The staff are incredibly kind and funny - and who wouldn't be in a good mood working for such an amazing company with a vision of seeing people healthier and happier?! The facilities at the Auckland City gym are outrageously impressive. I love taking my guests on tours showing them the HPU crossfit facilities, the arena, te boxing bags, the rpm studio, the cardio cinema (the only time I ever watch tv is on these treadmills!) , the circuit/grit room (my favourite place to sweat), the two group fitness studios, the women's workout room and the main weights room. I was coming here for over a year when I discovered that the changing rooms are like a little wonderland in themselves! They offer GHD hairdryers and straighteners, ironing boards and irons, showers, steam room (so great for my sinuses), a dry sauna, a spa and a dipping pool! The first time I saw this I thought I was dreaming and had to go back a couple of days later to double check! Making this gym even better (is that even possible?!) is the BODYFUEL shop onsite that means I can come straight after work even if I'm hungry and Cafe Brioche that stay open late to satisfy my post-work caffeine cravings and support me to smash my fitness goals even if I'm tired. I also love the onsite Platinum Sports shop that I can use to bribe myself (offering myself fashionable incentives for achieving savings and fitness goals). Parking is abundant and the time limit is generous - allowing me to make the most of my visits and fit a shower and blow-dry in afterwards. Les Mills is my favourite place on Earth and I recommend everyone visits for BodyPump class at least once in their life! People who don't go to Les Mills think it's an "expensive gym", but I consider the price insignificant in comparison to what I get out of the classes. Highly qualified, highly engaging group-fitness instructors mean each person in the class is improving their exercise repertoire and technique without having to invest in a personal trainer. I also calculated that if I use the car parking for three workouts, I have saved my entire memberships-worth in the price of city parking! I have also been supported in putting my membership on long-term on short-term holds to help it work with the demands of life. I feel very values here. They also call you when you have't visited in a while. I believe Les Mills is about making fit, happy, healthy humans - not money. So...
Read moreI’d like to begin by giving a big shout out to T.J. And Lauren. They were so helpful and welcoming. They created an incredible first impression and helped us find our way around the huge facility. I’ve been to many gyms the world over, however I would rate this one as stand out exceptional; an example for others to follow. Not only are the classes and instructors world beating, but the equipment is second to none. Les Mills led the way in introducing corporatised and standardised science based fitness classes decades ago. Notably, during the pandemic Les Mills delivered an on demand offering that was affordable, and accessible, for people who had minimal equipment at home. I’ve been going to Les Mills classes for over 20 years. It’s an unbelievable experience to attend a class led by someone you’ve watched in on demand classes again and again. Glen and Rach are two of my favourites, pictured below. Importantly, Les Mills continues to innovate and, in my opinion dominate, the fitness industry because classes are designed theoretically and lean into current trends. Importantly they are trialled live and modified inline with user feedback. I attended Kylie’s new Hatha Earth class and provided feedback verbally and online. Fabulous also to attend a Trip class in the state of the art studio; as well as, use the well equipped and designed women’s gym. Loved seeing dumb bells in increments of 1kg. Useful for people with less upper body strength. Absolutely loads of weights equipment for people at all fitness levels. Helpful staff throughout the gym directed me to equipment and to the changing rooms. Something else I noticed; didn’t see any broken equipment. Overall not a single negative...
Read moreI have been coming to this gym for 20 years so am well placed to write a review and give feedback. Truth is this gym was better 7 years ago than it is today. I am a Body Jam and Body Combat enthusiast. There are now not enough Body Jam classes on the timetable and for some reason the older routines are no longer being taught. Have you considered that this may be why Body Jam numbers are dropping? People do NOT want to continue doing the last 10 releases all the time as we are bored to death with them and want instructors to go back occasionally to some of the earlier amazing routines (i.e. before release number 75) to mix it up. Also the new Les Mills website is terrible - the timetable is very difficult to use on it, and it is not optimized for google chrome either. And STOP the political correctness - I just did a search on your website by gender for personal trainers and for gender you had options for male, female or OTHER. Stop the PC rubbish you are alienating your members. Even despite the drop in standards as set out above, this gym still has the best instructors in the world especially...
