As a solo traveler, I found myself wandering into this charming tavern, drawn in by its lovely reviews and its proximity to my hotel. It was September 18th, 2025.
Upon entering, I was immediately embraced by the warm and inviting atmosphere. It was 1:30 PM, and despite the early hour, I noticed several tables already occupied with laughter and conversation, adding to the friendly vibe. I made my way to the bar to place my order, and I was greeted by wonderfully friendly staff who went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. He offered me tastings from the draft and suggested I try the fish and chips, which I gladly accepted.
The beer was fantastic, but what truly stole the show was the fish and chips. They arrived piping hot and perfectly crispy, with a generous portion that was more than enough for one person. I couldn’t help but appreciate the care that went into the meal.
One thoughtful detail that caught my eye was the heat lamps on the ceiling. It showed how much consideration the tavern had for its guests, ensuring that everyone felt comfortable. Overall, I left with a warm heart and a...
Read moreCame by to check out the beer selection and wasn't let down by the impressive selection they had. They had 20 different beers on tap and changed a few at the end of the night. The hardest thing is choosing from the selection. The beer names are on the tap but there was a "pouring now" wire board with the beer currently on tap. The area isn't too bad, parking available around the Victoria street region. They had a few tables inside as well as outside and it was fairly large. The food was quite nice. Quite a few thing to choose from but I would recommend the fish and chips is it is your first time here since they are a fish and chippery. Selection of fishes with different prices and different styles of cooking. What was interesting is that they serve all their food takeaway style, wrapped in paper. Tasty food and...
Read moreAfter sitting in the SkyBar in the Tower, it was time for dinner and I spotted this place (from Yelp, not from the window). A short walk and a few minutes later, beer in hand. I found a comfy spot in the back, connected to their wifi and checked in for tomorrow's flight back to the USA.
And then dinner. I ordered the fish and chips which was the biggest piece of fish ever. Crispy battered outside, light and flaky inside. Super hot from the fryer and with enough delicious fries to float a battalion.
Wifi was speedy and the seating was comfortable and I'm just a little bit sad that my New Zealand adventure is...
