The water here is AMAZING, although as it is fresh water and not salt you cannot float as easily, therefore not recommended for weak swimmers. On the side that faces towards the centre of the lake it is deep enough for one to jump and prehaps even dive into the water. Kış Ortasında Sıcacık Bir Balkan Kaçamağı – Ohrid Şubat ayında çocuklarla birlikte yaptığımız Ohrid gezisi, soğuk havaya rağmen içimizi ısıtan bir deneyimdi. Merkezde, eski bir Osmanlı konağından butik otele dönüştürülmüş şahane bir yerde kaldık — hem tarihi dokuyu hem de modern konforu bir arada sunuyordu. Ara sokaklarda yaptığımız yürüyüşler bize şehrin ruhunu hissettirdi: taş kaldırımlar, ahşap evler, göl manzarası ve her köşe başında karşılaştığımız küçük tarih parçaları.

Gezimiz sırasında birkaç müze gezdik, özellikle kağıt üretim atölyesi oldukça etkileyiciydi; el yapımı kâğıtların nasıl üretildiğini izlemek hem öğretici hem nostaljikti. Ohrid’in meşhur “çevapi”sini tattık — sıcacık ekmeğin içinde gelen bu lezzet, Balkan mutfağının en keyifli detaylarından biri.

Son gün hava açtı, güneş yüzünü gösterdi ve adeta tüm şehir halkı gibi biz de kendimizi göl kenarındaki yürüyüşe attık. Şehrin iki güzel ve tarihi kilisesini de ziyaret ettik; biri göle nazır konumuyla özellikle etkileyiciydi. Dönüşte ise Ohrid’in meşhur incilerinden birkaç tane alarak bu güzel hatırayı...
