We stayed at Henann Tawala Hotel for a week upon arriving in Bohol, and it was a fantastic experience. The hotel is spotlessly clean, living up to its 4-star rating. Upon arrival, the staff were very attentive—our bags were handled, and we were offered breakfast while our early check-in was expedited. One thing to be aware of is the 3,000 pesos per night damage deposit. If paid by credit card, any charges, such as room service or drinks at the swim-up bar, are deducted from it, with the balance refunded after checkout. The breakfast area is beautifully presented, with friendly staff who greet you warmly. After giving your room number and surname, you’re escorted to a table. However, we noticed some inconsistency in service—on some days we were offered coffee or tea, while on others we weren’t. There were also times when water wasn’t provided, so we ended up with double servings after fetching it ourselves. Consistency in service would enhance the experience, but the self-service station for coffee, water, and juices was convenient.Breakfast options were excellent, with plenty of variety to suit all preferences. Everything was well-prepared and delicious. One small issue was being asked to leave a yogurt behind when I tried to take it out of the breakfast area. I understand the rule to prevent excessive takeaway, but I felt a little flexibility could be applied for small items. The rooms at Henann Tawala are impressive—spacious with great bathrooms and lovely balconies. Among the best we’ve stayed in, they’re comparable to high-end hotels like Radisson Blu in Cebu or Seda Ayala Central Block. The reception staff were incredibly helpful. They arranged a reasonably priced van for our trip to Tagbilaran, and the driver was punctual, providing a comfortable ride. He even dropped us off at the right spot for catching a van to Anda at the Dao Bus Terminal. One nice perk of staying here is the short walk to Henann's beachfront property, where you can use the sun loungers shaded by palm trees and enjoy drinks served by the staff. However, you can’t use the pool there, and you need to pick up towels from Henann Tawala before heading to the beach. The beach is beautiful, but there are quite a few hawkers selling tours, which can be a bit of a nuisance. We found better deals on Facebook. The sea is warm, though there’s a fair amount of seaweed. I’d recommend snorkeling to watch your step, as there are starfish and possibly sea urchins. We only swam once. If you buy mangosteen from beach vendors (150-200 pesos), check for ants, as one of our bags was full of them!Just outside the hotel’s main gates, there’s an ATM and a laundry shop that charges around 400 pesos for 5 kg, returning clothes washed, dried, and folded by 5 pm. It’s much cheaper than the hotel’s laundry service. We also tried the Kajun Restaurant nearby, which offers excellent chicken sandwiches, fries, and milkshakes in an American diner style. On the beachfront, our favorite restaurant was the Oasis Resort’s upstairs bar and restaurant, which has a cooling breeze and a great view of the beach. Every dish we tried was fantastic, and we highly recommend it.While our stay at Henann Tawala was wonderful, Panglao itself felt quite touristy. There were many Korean tourists, and a lot of locals trying to sell tours and services, which sometimes felt overwhelming. Prices were higher than we expected, especially for things like tricycles, which cost 150 pesos per person compared to the 12 pesos we paid in the provinces. Restaurant prices were also inflated, and even basic supplies came at a premium. If you prefer a quieter, more authentic experience, I’d recommend visiting somewhere like Anda. It has a more laid-back, provincial vibe, with friendlier locals and a slower pace of life, making it a peaceful alternative to the busy, touristy...
Read moreFirst of all, the resort is nice, clean and the staff is the most friendly we have ever had. Here is why we only give 1 out of 5 points :The management of the resort is unfriendly, impolite and arrogantly and did not help us in a specific situation. After 2 days we had ants in our room, and when my wife opened her suitcase there where hundreds of them in her clothes. (We only had clothes in the suitcase, no food) we put all clothes out of the suitcase and housekeeping cleaned it. We could not get the ants out of the clothes so we put them in a bag, and asked the hotel If they could wash it. They said they can try to get ants of the clothes but washing would cost about 1 dollar per piece. (We had like 70-80 pieces). So we agreed and in the evening we got the bags back, clothes still full with ants. We went back to reception, talked to management again, they said we had food in the room, and there were also used clothes in the bag, we have to pay for washing. I told them that there was no food, only in the fridge and packed food outside. Management lady didn't even listen what I said, just repeated we had food in room and used clothes in the back. (She thought we wanted a free wash for our used clothes, but there were only like 10% used, because they were in the suitcase in a separate bag, but also full of ants). So she did not help, I went out the resort get all clothes washed. During that time housekeeping cleaned room and got ants out. Next day ants again. We changed the room. No more ants for 6 days, we eat bananas mangos melon like before ... No ants. I found out that right beside our room there was a trash bucket, and there were lots of ants coming out of the ceiling. Ants are in the ceiling (we lived on top floors) and so they got in the room. It was their fault, they just could have helped us with washing our clothes . It would have cost them nothing. So we lost a lot of time and good mood by discussing and getting rid of ants. But the worst thing was, to be treaded so bad by the management lady. There was no friendliness, nothing! One more thing about the breakfast. We are vegan and we wrote them an email 2 weeks ahead and did not get any answer. When we arrived we told them again and the chef asked what he can cook for us. We got gluten-free bread, rice or noodles and fried vegetables for 10 days. Asked for some vegan pancakes or something else. They did not how to do it.At the end when checking out we asked if we could keep the beach towels till 2 pm for 3 more hours, because our daughter always naps on the beach. They wanted an extra 75 dollars for that 3 hours. And for all that we paid 210 dollars per night- definitely NOT worth money. A change in management and half price would be fair for the hotel. We definitely can not...
Read moreAbsurd experience! Staff are very inconsiderate and unhelpful. My cousin booked multiple rooms including alona building. Our booking was different, we were checked in at Tawala. All bookings was under my cousins name and we were informed that my cousin should stay with us because its under her name??? They also told us upon check in that if my cousin won’t stay with us, she should contact agoda to change the booking name??? What the hell?? Where’s the logic? Lol haha so just to make the check in quick my cousin just agreed to stay with us even if she has another booking on the other building which is alona. By the way room is good for 3, me my sister and my mom will be the 3rd person. Fast forward on the 2nd day we had our breakfast, im with my parents so basically we are 3. There was no any problem at all on that day. The same day my parents need to catch a boat going back to cebu. So its just me and my sister in the room. We have decided to contact our cousin to stay with us since we were just two in the room and the booking is good for 3. Fast forward to the last day. We had our breakfast and suddenly while having breakfast the staff approached us saying that the 3rd person will be charge since the actual guest/ my cousin who booked the reservation was not one who took the breakfast!!! Ohmygoodness really??! I just agreed to pay so that we can continue our breakfast in peace. During check out time, my sister received a call from the front desk saying that they will charge the 3rd person for staying overnight and not informing them that he will stay. I understand that we had a lapse of not informing them. But we already explained the situation and let them understand that whats the difference?? Whats the point?? We paid the room good for 3 but they are insisting to charge the 3rd personn because we did not inform them??? So inconsiderate and insufficient. We also told them that we work as a front desk in a different hotel but all they say is “were just following our policy” hahahaha without even weighing the situation and not thinking the convenience of their guests., no solution at all. Thats just really absurd and frustrating dealing with people who don’t understand. Anyways, definitely will not be back. Also team leader who dealt with us was very unhelpful and no...
