"They shall prosper that love thee. Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces." – Psalm It was created in 1612–14 in place of a 13th-century gothic gate that formed a part of the old city fortifications. The gate was largely destroyed by Soviet shelling in World War II, but was rebuilt in 1957. Although most artifacts of Germanness were eradicated after the city became Polish in 1945, the original German inscription on the gate was restored in the 1990s. Bery nice to see.

The Golden Gate marks the beginning of the Long Street and is a main attraction of the Royal Route. It is also a famous meeting point. Gate was built in the 17th century as part of the old city fortifications. On top of the gate there are eight figures representing different qualities that should be exercised by the citizens. #letsguide, #poland, #gdansk, #visitgdansk, #oldtown, #royalroute, #gate, #longstreet, #meetingpoint,

This is the gate which leads to pedestrian way to Motlawa river. Very crowded bustling with lot of people, restaurants, eateries. Tower clock is here, basilica church is also on the side of this way, half way mark we will get Neptune fountain. You get to hear music, see paintings done in matter of few minutes, get hold of snakes around your neck etc. One can spend easily some time strolling around starting from this gate.

The Golden gate dates back to 1614 when it was built as the western entrance to old town. During the centuries it was damaged many times, but totally after WWII. After it was rebuilt and still serves its purpose. However, I didn't realize any clew why it's called golden, as it's mainly white with only few golden inscriptions. Anyway, a nice and quick photo op when walking the old town

This gate was one of the most beautiful buildings I saw in all of Gdansk. Go through it and you'll see even more beautiful buildings like it, shops and cafes on both sides, and eventually you'll get to the channel, which is also beautiful, but walk slowly and savor every moment and every pastel pink, green and blue building, decorated with paintings and gargoyles.

It is a nice place to visit, early 17th century construction. The door is right at the beginning of a pedestrian street and opposite the amber museum. Now at Christmas time there is also a Christmas market in front of Golden Gate. Inside the door you can see photos of the city when it was destroyed in the II World War.
