What a gastronomique experience this place is. Wonderful atmosphere and outstanding service from the young waitress who could not do enough to ensure our evening was wonderful. She had excellent knowledge of the menu and explained it to us perfectly in English. She was also very knowledgeable about the wines. The evening started with a welcome drink of Croft Spritz which was very refreshing followed by an appetizer. Home made bread was placed on the table and was delicious. Each of our chosen dishes, both starters and mains, were beautifully presented and completed with a jus placed expertly upon the dish with a finishing relish by our waitress. We had the steak and the venison which were flawless and matched with a bottle of Finca Moncloa. The food could not be matched and was flawless as far as I am concerned; so much so we went back the following evening for another evening of gastronomic delight. The second night, we both had the suckling pig which again was outstanding. I would highly recommend this restaurant for an evening in Jerez as you won’t be disappointed. Thank you so much to the chef and staff and particularly the waitress who made two evenings memorable in this...
Read moreEverything went terribly wrong for us. Confirmation of our reservation for two tables being put together at the terrace (arranged by emails well in advance) was never communicated to the staff, so a waitress argued with us for 5 minutes upon arrival. Then they made us wait for another 10+ mins at the door. They somehow managed to get us the table arrangement we asked for at the end. Then we ordered still water. Got sparkling. A waiter stepped on my purse multiple times. Food was taken away before it was finished and without asking us if we were done. So at some point we were joking that one shouldn't blink if they want to finish their food. Food was mediocre and we felt overpriced. Ended up paying €90 (2 ppl, 2 glasses of wine and 3 starters/small plates) for the worst meal in Jerez so far. The view and the place itself is gorgeous, amazing location. Really poor service for Andalusia, didn't expect that from famous Gonzalez...
Read moreBeautifully decorated restaurant with great view of Cathedral. Understandably quiet on first Saturday of February. Disappointing really from start to finish. Ok artichoke dish but tough. Deconstructed jamon croquetas was put down with no explanation so not obvious what it was. Was nice though. The pilpil peas with curd egg yolk was like peas with egg and no discerning pilpil influence but fine. Main of iberico pork with apple was very underwhelming and the seabass was actually croaker that may have been cured but was tough and unpleasant. No one asked us how things were. They didn’t seem bothered we didn’t like it. All food was barely warm. Took ages to order each glass of wine. Overall so below average and not what we expected it to be. A shame as lovely decor....
