One of the interesting things to find in the Old Town is the Franz Kafka Memorial, which is located in the Jewish Quarter near the Spanish Synagogue. The structure is a 3.75 meter tall bronze statue created by sculpture Jaroslav Rona and unveiled on the 4th of December 2003. The sculpture is of a peculiar design, being a miniature Franz Kafka sitting upon the shoulders of a larger yet headless and armless version of himself. For those who are fans of Kafka or simply want to learn more about him, you can also visit Kafka's birthplace museum just off the Old Town Square as well as the Kafka Museum in the Mala Strana district by crossing over Charles Bridge. Other interesting statues we have enjoyed seeing in Prague include the Hanging Man statue near the Bethleham Chapel and the Piss status outside the Kafka Museum

This monument to Franz Kafka depicts the man riding on the shoulders of a faceless and almost formless ethereal individual. The scene is a reference to the second chapter of "Description of a Struggle", where the protagonist of the story leaps onto the shoulders of his acquaintance and begins riding his like a horse. Utterly surreal and that's probably what makes this sculpture so fun. The sculpture is a little off the main tourist circuit in Prague in the Old Jewish district, but it's worth a look if you have time.

Недалеко от Испанской синагоги расположена статуя, посвященная знаменитому чешскому немецкоязычному писателю еврейского происхождения Францу Кафке. Автором памятника является скульптор Ярослав Рона. Скульптурная композиция была установлена в 2003 году на Везеньской улице в Праге. Это очень необычная скульптура, привлекающая внимание прохожих. Идея памятника была почепнута из первого романа Франца Кафки "Америка", в котором политический кандидат держится на плечах гигантского человека во время предвыборного митинга. Памятник установлен возле места, где находился дом, в котором вырос Франц Кафка, об этом сообщает мемориальная доска на углу ближайшего здания. Ещё один занимательный факт касательно памятника. Если верить старым кадастровым картам, он установлен в том самом месте, где раньше находились ворота из района проживания чехов - "Старе Место" в гетто, в котором проживала еврейская община. Возможно, таким способом хотели подчеркнуть интернациональное единство народов, проживающих на территории Чехии. Сказать что Франц Кафка является одним из самых почитаемых и любимым писателем в Чехии - это значит ничего не сказать. Его здесь просто боготворят. За долгие годы жизни в Праге Франц Кафка сменил 13 съёмных квартир, поэтому, не удивляйтесь, когда, слушая или читая о пражских улицах и домах, часто будете встречать фразу «"десь жил Франц Кафка". В Праге есть и музей Франца Кафки, расположенный в районе Маластранской.
