I arrived late at night due to a delayed flight (can’t be helped) and the hotel isn’t particularly that well lit, so wasn’t easy to see as the sign blends in. My check in was fine, but not particularly friendly. My room was accessed through the dining area and I was advised to take the lift to the 3rd floor. The lift is unlike anything I’ve seen before. You open a door and it’s straight behind it and is actually on the outside of the building and is incredibly old. So if you don’t like lifts at the best of times, I would avoid. My room was number 327 and I would not recommend this room. The room itself was cosy, bed was comfy. The bathroom however often smelled of drains - which wasn’t pleasant. The window looked out on to the back of the building and also on to the weird lift. The noise from which was horrendous and prevented sleep. People generally only stopped using it about 2am. Breakfast was satisfactory but the coffee was poor and hot options limited if that’s your sort of thing. Location wise it really is central. I didn’t use public transport during my stay, and everywhere you might want to get to is walkable. The street can be noisy at night, and drunken men hanging around didn’t really make the area feel that safe for a female solo traveller. Prague itself is beautiful, but if you’re looking for a peaceful stay I would say avoid this hotel and area. Also I was charged a city tax on the last day that I wasn’t made aware of at any point, it wasn’t a problem, but just be mindful. It...
Read moreIt breaks my heart to have to give this hotel 2 stars, because my overall experience of Prague was absolutely incredible and a large portion of that is the location.
This hotel is really really central and in a great location. It’s right next to a nightclub, but we didn’t hear any music or late night stragglers.
The breakfast included in the morning was fine. The pastries were very tasty, and a good selection overall.
The staff were generally friendly, always letting us leave our luggage behind the desk, speaking kindly etc. had no issues at all.
So the reason why I’ve given it a 2 is because our room was in such a poor condition. We were in room 429, at the very top of the hotel, it is really looks nothing like any of the photos in the other reviews. I myself didn’t even take photos because I didn’t want to post them on this review. I can clearly see what this hotel is going for, and the other rooms online look fantastic, I don’t know if ours was just last to the refurb party.
Our room was incredibly outdated, had no lock on the door, jaded carpets with whole chunks missing, the bathroom tiles with cracked and the just generally awful maintenance. I was considering giving it a 3 stars until I used the shower, which is when you have to battle between hot and cold and changes in water pressure.
I really do feel bad for leaving this review because I loved my trip so much, but if you asked me to recommend Antik hotel, I would, just any other...
Read moreVery bad experience. I travelled to Prague with a large group of friends and we all stayed at Antik. The hotel is really old and out of all the rooms we got, only one actually looked like the photos on Google Maps or Booking. The rest were old, worn off and really small. A lot of rooms are on higher floors without an elevator. I booked an 18m2 room with two double beds, but got just one queen bed in a room that is barely bigger than the bed. When I complained about this I had to explain to the owner Miroslav for a long time that I didn’t get what I booked, but Miroslav insisted that I was wrong and that Booking showed me wrong information. As Miroslav said there are no bigger rooms, I asked if I could have breakfast for free as an apology, but Miroslav insisted there is nothing to apologise for and that it is my fault I booked the wrong room and refused to do anything to help me as the guest, all the while being quite rude to me. The cherry on top was when Miroslav decided that since I’m a woman I am not worth being talked to anymore and turned to my male friend, who wasn’t even in the same room, and started explaining to him that I am being unreasonable. Suffice to say I will never stay here again, and I advise any reader to...
