This was an incredibly disappointing dining experience, arguably the worst we had during our trip across Europe. I'm not sure if this was a case of discrimination or if this is just how locals are treated, but either way, it was unacceptable.
We dined at this restaurant in Prague, and it was supposed to be our first meal in the city. Initially, the service seemed promising; the waiter was polite and attentive. However, things quickly went downhill when we discovered a hair in our main course. We politely asked the waiter to replace the dish, which he did without much issue.
Unfortunately, the situation escalated when we found yet another hair in our dessert. This was utterly disgusting and completely ruined our appetite. When I brought this to the waiter's attention again, he simply took away my main course—not the dessert where we found the hair—without even asking for clarification or offering an apology. This level of service is absolutely unacceptable.
What shocked me the most was what happened next. As I went to settle the bill, the chef and another waiter started yelling about something in Czech, which I didn't understand. The waiter then told us, "you can go leave," implying we didn't have to pay. Throughout this entire ordeal, not once did I hear an apology or any acknowledgment of the situation.
In summary, the food here is terrible, the hygiene standards are alarming, and the service is beyond words. I strongly advise avoiding this place if you value a decent meal and...
Read moreOne of the worst dining experience ever. The staff were super rude and impatient. We reserved, and they took our family name by mistake. When they wanted to confirm our name for reservation, the staff showed very annoyed attitude and grumpy face, for their mistake… The food didn’t taste good, and it took forever for the waiters to take order for us. Waiters saw we tried to have eye contact with them to try to order drinks and food, they just kept ignoring us and kept us waiting… The most frustrating thing came! When we were going to pay for the bill, after waiting forever for them to come over to our table, the waiter added services fee and tips on the card reader himself, and compelled us to pay. We refused to pay the extra amount he putted it on rudely without asking us even, after providing us the awful service. He repeated several times that he doesn’t want to see us again, if we don’t like the service we should go to McDonalds. He’s being very moody and rude, repeating himself several times to us… After the dinner, five of us had seriously bad diarrhea, not sure if the food was fresh or no… Both the service and the food were shockingly awful, if you don’t want to ruin your mood and don’t want to be treated like a criminal then I strongly don’t recommend you go here, otherwise you’ll be suggested by them to go to McDonalds or...
Read moreThis seemed like a fun place to try. When we got there it was loud with a lot of revelry, which was fine - people genuinely having fun (they seemed to be locals which is great).
The food was ok, nothing spectacular but serviceable. I had the grilled tuna and pickled Camembert, along with a side of boiled potatoes and my wife had Svickova (a beef and dumpling dish)
Here’s where things fell apart - the service bordered cartoonishly bad to downright rude. Our server didn’t write anything down and forgot to bring dishes. He had to come back twice to ask what our order was. I asked for white wine (which btw, there is only one by the glass available) and he seemed insistent that I get beer. The entree’s arrived without the side of potatoes (ok, that happens) but once the meal was done and the restaurant had started to empty out, getting someone’s attention to pay was a Herculean task. My wife went to the man who sat us and asked for the check- he rudely said “how do I know what table you’re at”.
As travelers, we are always super polite to staff when we go out and eat, and always tip well. We did tip 10% again, reluctantly.
A nice couple from Canada came in and sat next to us. It took them forever to get anyone’s attention despite the restaurant being half empty. We wished them good...
