I've been to a few Korean restaurants in the years, but I've never been to Korea so I based my judgment by comparing it to other restaurants. The ambient is nice, very colorful and also lots of Korean guests so everything looks good to me and guarantee of original food. I have to say I'm not a fan of pork intestines or pork belly (Korean BBQ on the menu is all about those 2 things). At other restaurants I've had different parts of the pork with a little less fat.... So I changed my focus by going for the beef. My wife got the spicy chicken in sweet sauce ... The beef was ok, pretty tasty... the chicken was really too sweet and not spicy at all.... How to eat a Kandy chicken 😄. I should probably take a better look around checking other tables for better options, learning from other guests from Korea. However, something much less for me were the side dishes...very small cups and only 4 types (brown beans, kimchi, some steamed cauliflower and white radishes). Only the kimchi made it to the table twice. I remember that the side dishes (BANCHAN) usually arrive on the table at least 2/3 times. Anyway, I can't say the food is not good at all, just a little disappointed. Definitely the chicken gets 1 star from me. You will have a little pressure to eat because they need the table for other people, so you either keep ordering...or your time is really limited (I think we finished in just over 30 minutes) Service 4 stars, fast and friendly. Food 2 considering we left 40 euros and 20 euros were just for the chicken and the rest 2 beers, 1 apple juice and the beef dish. A bit too expensive from my point of view. Take away carton box is around...
Read moreNicely decorated restaurant with friendly staff. Food was a bit of a let down given the positive reviews:
-We asked the waitress if the bibimbap was “dolsot” bibimbap. She did not understand and so we asked if it came in a hot stone bowl. She said “yes”.
-I ordered the dakgangjeong with fries and the gogi mandu.
It came with three ban chan, which were okay. The pickled cucumbers were pretty flat and the kimchi would benefit from more shrimp paste.
The bibimbap was definitely not dolsot. It was room temperature in a steel bowl. Overall, the taste was okay. It has no sesame oil and the sauce itself isn’t very spicy. Because it is not served in a hot bowl, there is no delicious crispy rice on the bottom.
The dakgangjeong was not bad. The sauce is definitely not spicy and it again needs more punchy: there just isn’t much sesame, garlic or vinegar there. I can’t blame the kitchen, as I find East Asian food in general is pretty muted in Europe—gotta cook to your audience I guess. The chicken itself is crispy when it comes out, but does not hold up to the sauce: maybe not double frying?
The mandu come out nice and crispy. Meat to vegetable filling ratio is way off and the herbs dominate. It doesn’t have that nice juicy explosion in your mouth if a nicely packed mandu. The sauce was nicely done, but I would’ve liked to see some gochugaru.
Overall, it...
Read moreI chose this place as my final meal in Prague. After two weeks away from home, I was craving Korean food. This place is conveniently located right near old town square. The interior is spacious with many tables, including a downstairs. The space is clean and well decorated. Ordering is super easy as you can just order from a tablet at your table. The menu is in English, Korea, Czech, German and Chinese.
I live in Southern California where the Korean food is phenomenal. I would say that this place, at least what I had, was on par with the good places in California. I had the makguksoo and steamed egg which went great together. The makguksoo was massive - a great options for vegans and vegetarians who like spicy food. The steamed egg was slightly smaller than I expected but it was still delicious. The side dishes which are included were excellent as well. I liked their kimchi especially. The service was wonderful as they are well staffed and the servers were very attentive. The prices are quite reasonable as well!
If you are craving Korean food in Prague, I highly recommend this place, especially given the authentic taste and diversity...
