First our crew was Steven, Philip, and Bryan. We were aboard the Sweet Pea. From reading the reviews I was so glad to have gotten this crew. I really can't say enough at how awesome they were.
We booked the day before by stopping directly at the office.
We do our breakfast and other morning routines and head to Bight Park where we're to be picked up by the boat at 1:15. We get there a couple hours early planning to hang out in the ocean until it's time. But the wind is so strong, and the ocean is pretty rough. Rough enough that it's no longer fun to just float around out there. We start wondering if going out on a boat is the best idea after all.
I try calling Island Vibes to ask if they're even still running but no answer. Since it's just up the road we drive up to the office to ask. They reassure us it will be fine, and the storm looks like it's going to blow over. If it gets any worse though, they will cancel.
Back to the beach to wait. The boat finally shows up and we get on with about 12 others. We continue up the shore at various other resorts picking up others. All said and done there were 20 of us, and two more to pick up at Club Med but it was too rough to pick them up. They were to be taken to the marina to be picked up in calmer waters. After picking up the last couple, making payments, signing the waivers, and getting the safety briefing they take us out into the roughest waters to show us snorkeling out there isn't going to work today. Everybody agrees it would be suicide to try it. We turn back towards the island and to the inlet between Provo and Little Water Cay. It's much calmer over on that side. They take us out to the La Famille Express shipwreck and drop anchor for us to do some snorkeling. The water is pretty calm out here and you can almost see the bottom. We end up with about 30 minutes to hang out and swim around the ship.
The crew is great about making everybody comfortable. 3/4 of us took them up on the inflatable vests to make floating easier. They said the water was only 4 feet deep but I think it must have been closer to 7 since I couldn't begin to make my feet touch.
After our time was up there we all got back on board and they started serving beers and Rum Punch. We went around the old conch farm and mango groves and off to Half Moon Bay. Once we "docked" at the little island the crew showed us how you get the conch out of the shell and cut it to prepare for eating. We hung out at the boat for a few minutes having a few more drinks then ventured off to the ocean side of the cay. The water was so blue, yet so rough and choppy. Excellent spot to take some pictures! Never did see any iguanas here, but that was fine. Back to the boat for a little bit more of a tour, then dropped anchor again for folks to use the slide and jump off the diving board. Again the crew was great here and made us feel comfortable. They got in the water to assist those that needed it when they came off the slide. There was a bit of a current that easily floated us past the boat so we had a rope and life saving ring to grab on to the help get back. After 30 minutes or so it was time to head back.
But rather than take the boring route back, they took us out into the really rough part and said get ready for the roller coaster. The captain (Steven) was working the throttle and wheel for extra effect. It...
Read moreOverall I would say it was a positive experience, granted we had a few issues I think would have been easily avoidable. We were lucky and had only 15 or so people on a 25+ person boat, making the whole experience much more enjoyable with a smaller crowd. The boat and crew themselves were fantastic, very attentive and fun, kept the good vibes and drinks flowing. We also had a great group of passangers which made it much more relaxed, just great people all around. The island beach we stopped at was also beautiful, we were able to see many iguana and even a small reef shark, very lovely overall.
The issues my wife and I had were with the snorkeling and lunch experience. Now we are no professionals, but have done some snorkeling in the past including Hawaii, Mexico and Costa Rica which we used for comparison. Unfortunately for something marketed as a "half day snorkeling cruise" the quality of snorkeling was by far the worst I have experienced. The calm, shallow, sheltered reef I had envisioned was replaced by a deep, very rough and unprotected patch of water with little diversity. However I must say the guys were great and made sure were safe at all times, just a little underwhelming overall.
As for the lunch, one of the main reasons I had chosen this tour was the advertised fresh conch salad caught and harvested by the crew. Once arriving to the area conch could be found we were informed due to over harvesting it would not be served. I completely understand the conch muct be given time to replenish, just don't inform me of this immediately before it should be served. Lunch instead were bags of chips and small rather simple chicken wraps. Perhaps next time inform the client before booking, or alternatively bring recently harvested conch from shore as a substitute as we were left both disappointed and a little frustrated.
Overall has a half day boat tour with optional snorkeling I would recommend, however if you are looking for world class snorkeling I would contact a local diving outfitter. While the crew and boat were great, stronger communication regarding the lunch would have been appreciated.
Edit: Recently read the response from Island Vibes Tours which I have to say the following:
No one expected a 4 hour snorkeling tour, what we did expect is a little more effort put into the snorkeling site selection as it was poor to say the least. From an area known for its high quality snorkeling the site selection was lazy and underwhelming. As for the conch issue I had called your office directly to confirm in which i was told yes it would be served, so no it was not an issue with a third party as i booked directly. I also had conch on three separate occasions while in Grace Bay. So as you can see it was less of a advertising issue and more of a being...

I have been parasailing in Turks twice before and never had an issue. I was harnessed in with my 17yo daughter. My 21yo nephew was on the boat and witnessed everything. We were quite high in the air about 5 min in when my daughter started to get anxious so I gave the signal to go down and we started to drift down but then I realized we weren’t getting reeled in and start to fall. We hit the open ocean and went under and the chute was in the water. We got tangled and pulled under for some seconds and somehow we surfaced. We spent about 7 min in the open ocean because the boat engine had failed and then took off with some wind pull only to fall back into the ocean 2 more times even after they got the engine going. I don’t usually post here but I’m just posting to warn anyone who considers this water sport, think twice. And DEFINITELY do not do it with this company. The owner Robello spoke to me about my trip via phone and text and was very responsive which is good but failed to reassure me that anything would be done about this near death mishap. His crew of 2, Oscar and Emilio did nothing to communicate with us or even check on us when we went down. They also did nothing to rescue us from the water. And when we finally got back on the boat and I asked what happened, Oscar said “you wanted to be dipped” very casually. Robello offered to take my family out the next day on a private boat trip and we didn’t pay him for the near death trip but I felt that he just wanted to appease me without really looking into the problem. We could’ve drown, or been injured in the open ocean by marine life. The first thing that they should’ve done was call another boat for help while trouble shooting but they didn’t. They were not even apologetic that somehow the boat engine died and gave me no good answer as to why we weren’t reeled in immediately when that happened. Robello claimed the winch is connected to the engine motor which is not what I’ve read. GO AT YOUR OWN RISK if you decide to use...
