I rarely write reviews, but the oxtail with grits was so good I felt driven to spread the word. I imagine most people at an island location are looking for seafood, so this may not be what most are looking for. When I saw this on the menu I figured it must be something special for it to take space on the menu. I was blown away by the flavors of the braised oxtail It had an excellent balance of warm spice, acid (that I am guessing came from tomatoes) and herbs and veggies)that made this dish a warm hug. I didn’t grow up with this dish, but it reminded me of the scene in Ratatouille when Ego the critics flashes back to the comfort food his mom served him as a child. The grits were also other-worldly. A perfect “tooth”and creaminess combined so it wasn’t just mush and wasn’t lumpy either. The beans and peppers accompaniment paired well and enhanced the other two components. I would love to be able to cook comfort food at this level!
Other items our family had were also good.Calamari had good flavor and the fried jalepenos served with it were de-seeded, so they had a little heat and were a nice contrast. Wedge salads was on point (not drowning in dressing). My teens loved the burger and the Alfredo. We all like the fish and chips.
The cocktails were also very good—we enjoyed the blackberry bourbon lemonade, the mule, the clover club, and a vodka cocktail with strawberries that I can remember what it was called, but it was...
Read moreThe food here was okay - we had the conch fritters, which was good in the way that most things you fry and serve with a sauce are good. The mocktail I had (the Mango Mule) was a bit overly sweet.
The atmosphere is fun, if you go in expecting a patio bar! It's a lovely set up, though it seems the inside area was very cramped - we saw lots of guests having to squeeze themselves between the various tables and chairs. We went during one of the EuroCup games - very fun to watch with a crowd, and they had plenty of screens for visibility.
Service-wise, it was lacking. Everyone sat themselves, which is fine as a policy, but we chose a table almost directly in front of the host stand and it still took at least 15-20 minutes for a server to come ask if we would like water. During that wait, we ended up borrowing a menu from another table, as there were none on ours and we were not brought any. Two tables that sat after us were served before us, while another table that sat after us had a similar treatment - they had no menus and no service for about 15 minutes. It seemed very...
Read moreService is terrible. We came to watch Euros and it was quite busy-as expected. The customers were hoarding seats leaving many seatless tables. The staff weren’t doing much to help the situation.
Once we procured our own seats for an empty table after asking repeatedly fo chairs, we ordered -only to be told “the bar is busy and asked if you can order something else”- after we ordered a margarita with mezcal.
Food was bland at best; downright skimpy at worst - for a club sandwich, one slice of ham, turkey and bacon. We received silverware 10 mins after the food delivered. No follow up or checking in on our table, but majority of the other tables seems to have fresh food and drinks replenished regularly.
This is one place I’d most certainly skip...
