It is being restored slowly back to its former glory. When it is has the rest of the needed funds and official planning accepted by the Council it should start again. It's reputed to have some very famous acts in the past their from The beatles, laurel & Hardy, Houdini etc. I saw on TV the restoration and fat boy slim talking saying he wanted to be one of the first gigs to play their when finished. Update: Just heard on ITV news today 18/07/25 that the date it's going to now reopen is 2027. The last people to play their were Chuck Berry and the Rolling Stones in 1968. Gradel II...

6/9/2025..I'm so pleased to hear as a former resident of Brighton that the hippodrome is being restored back to it's former glory & hasn't ended up as residential flats.i myself was never lucky enough to enjoy/experience the venue..I wish it all the best for...
