I am truly disappointed with the Cable Car Operating team. Our anticipation to enjoy the view was marred by a frustrating experience. After enduring a lengthy queue from Up, we reached the office at 12pm only to be told that the Cable Car would shut down by 2pm. To add insult to injury, upon descending, we found ourselves facing another extensive queue to go back up. This time, the urgency was palpable, as we had to secure our spot before the purported 2pm closing.
Yet, this alleged closing time seemed to be in constant flux. The management played a seemingly arbitrary game of shifting the goalposts, pushing the deadline from 2pm to 2:30, then 3:00, and 3:30. The cable car was operational till about 6pm. It was evident that they had no solid grasp on their operating hours, leaving us feeling misled and rushed. Instead of savoring the experience, we were plagued by uncertainty over when the cable car would be closed for the day.
It would have been both honest and beneficial if the operating team had established a clear and reliable schedule. With the weather forecast promising sunshine throughout the day, there was absolutely no need for this unnecessary haste. This lack of transparency and consideration for visitors' time has left me thoroughly disappointed in what could have been an otherwise...
Read moreHad a very poor experience. First no updated info on webpages, phone not answered and the nearest parking is Happy valley signage is extremely unclear.
On day 2 of holiday we tried again. Paid for 2 adults and 3 children return. They checked our ticket staff at Llandudno side fun and helpful made easier with a disabled child. On route ticket blew away, no one had advice ticket to keep ticket and it’s cash only. Got off and walked around to return to be asked for ticket, explained circumstances and was told by a very rude man unless we had a ticket we couldn’t return, he was so blunt and rude upsetting my kid, we walked out having spend £48 on a return and no cash (or facilities to get cash) I found £10 in my purse and again explained that I would need to travel alone leaving my family and child to get my car to drive back. Was again accused of swapping tickets giving ours to someone else, at which point I just cried. Finally the man agreed we could all travel back by this point my son was very upset and confused. On arriving back at Llandudno I explained to a man who’d seen us off, he refunded my additional Single ticket. The actual views and experience on the way out was lovely, very calm. However the way we were treated at Great orme was so poor, I wouldn’t return...
Read moreI’ve been fascinated by the Llandudno Cable Cars since my first visit in the late 70s. It always made me feel like we were at some French or Italian ski resort 😂
The views from the cable cars are STUNNING. You get uninterrupted vistas of Snowdonia, Conway and beyond. Watching the Great Orme glide underneath whilst ascending to the summit is a truly wonderful experience.
The ride itself is only 9 minutes but it’s long enough for you to sit back and lap up the wonderful and ever changing scenery on your ascent and/or descent.
Admission is by cash only and it’s £14 for an adult return. There is a family return for £40 which allows two adults and two children to ride.
Be prepared for long waits at both station in peak season. We were lucky today but as we return from the summit, the queue at Happy Valley looked to be at least an hour.
Keep your eye on the weather as they will close the ride if the winds are too strong. You’ll only get a refund of 50p and are expected to make your own way down from the top. It’s happened once before to us and we ended up walking down. It actually ended up being a great experience itself!
Overall it’s a must do if you’re visiting Llandudno. Be prepared to wait and take cash. The views are worth...
