I can understand this place getting good reviews for food, from what I saw of it. Unfortunately however I never got to taste any of it, when a very obnoxious young female member of staff with far too much attitude, arrogance and rudeness and with no obvious customer service skills whatsoever decided to take it upon herself to argue as to when the food should be served, as in starters and mains at the same time. Really? Prior to this other members of our group were treated to more of her failing talents, when they asked what brands of lager were available, to be told they are all down the end of the bar, go and look for yourself. After looking, they asked to be served, to then have a not so obvious sign pointed out to them, advising, "no service at this end of the bar".In an earlier unrelated incident two more members of the group temporarily sat at the end of an unoccupied booth whilst other seating became available, to be ranted at by the same unprofessional young female stating that the table was reserved and we needed to move straight away. The fact that the rather small Reserved sign was obscured by a tray of napkins and that we weren't wishing to sit at that table didn't count for anything. When it was suggested politely that she needed to calm her attitude, it was met with the rather curt answer of "I'm busy and stressed" but no forth coming apology for her actions. The result of all these unrelated tantrums and outright rudeness was the requesting of a full refund and cancellation of an £80+ food order and the leaving of the group to go and find somewhere more friendly and hospitable. It's a shame that what appears to be quite a nice venue, is having its much badly needed footfall business undermined by a very unprofessional rude young female member of staff, who is lacking some serious customer service skills arising from what can only be described as total shortfall in training. If this young person believes that she has the correct attitude and skills and that Stress is a requirement to work in the "Hospitality" trade, then I suggest to her that the clue is in the title. The date of our visit was Easter Saturday...

We arranged to meet family there specifically for the carvery, bringing our two dogs along because the pub is normally dog-friendly. However, upon arrival, we were abruptly informed that dogs are NOT allowed on Sundays. This critical detail was omitted from all advertising. There was no mention anywhere that dogs were not welcome on Sundaysāneither on their Facebook page nor on any signage.
As a result, our family, who had already paid for their carvery and settled their children, had to stay while we were forced to leave and find another place to eat. This glaring oversight completely ruined our family Sunday lunch. Such a lack of clear communication is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the management's ability to provide essential information to their customers.
I have no issue with a venue making changes to their pet policyāit's entirely their prerogative. However, it's basic customer service to clearly communicate any such restrictions. Let me communicate that which you seem incapable of doing: DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON SUNDAYS! This is the kind of information that should be readily available to avoid inconveniencing your patrons.
Original Review from 2023: The pub has a standard "Wetherspoons-style" atmosphere, but unlike Wetherspoons, the drink prices are excessively high. We were charged £19.20 for two double rum and diet cokes, which is outrageous considering it was only Kraken rum, which I can buy for around £20 a bottle at Tesco.
While the staff were friendly and chatty, and there was ample seating inside, the absence of a beer garden was notable. We didn't try the food, but it appeared decent as it was being served to other tables. Overall, this isn't a place I would hurry back to.
To the management: If you want to attract and retain customers, start by providing accurate and complete information and offering a better...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBooked a table here yesterday, no one came to us to seat us they just looked at us and said nothing, had to go over to the bar to be seated, ordered our starters at the bar, an hour later our starters came out, we had ordered our mains while waiting as we thought if it took that long to do starters weād be waiting ages for mains, onion rings were disgusting, thick with grease, over cooked on the outside but raw on the inside. No one asked once how our food was, on to the main, they came to give us our mains, waitress said āwhat youāve ordered more foodā made us a bit uncomfortable considering weād only had starters at that point. Homemade chicken tikka did not taste like chicken tikka at all! Rice was all stuck together and it was vile, I tried some and left the rest. Gammon had no taste and chips were really greasy, best part of the meal was the salad but how can you go wrong there. At a certain time the place starts to feel more like a āclubā not a drink and dine, no drinks menu, they seem to care more about those drinking there than the food orders, canāt be the only ones with the same thoughts as I seen a couple plates go back full and people walk out. Do...
