La Taverna — Restaurant in Great Britain

"BEWARE OF BEING RIPPED OFF IN THIS RESTAURANT" Booked a meal for 4 people on 12 April (Easter Weekend) everywhere else was booked up, I had first looked at the menu and prices on the web page everything seemed fine. Meal was reasonable, service was Ok, nothing really special, I paid the bill of £98.50 and left the restaurant. Couple of days later I looked at the receipt and thought I'd check against the web pages for the prices, I found that we had been charged about 10 to 15% more on our bill than was advertised on their web pages. I duly called the proprietor and very politely pointed out the differance, he was not at all put out, and made it perfectly clear that it was the prices on the menu at the time of ordering that counted. (which I totally agreed with) but he had no intention of correcting his web pages. I feel he is using his web pages to con the tourist into the restaurant under false pretences, 30th APRIL, 17 DAYS LATER THE WEB PRICES STILL HAD NOT CHANGED

So please avoid this restaurant. at least the customer can now hit back...

Me & my partner came for a meal here after reading many positive reviews. We had booked for 5:45pm yet when we arrived they had the booking down for 7:45pm. The staff were quick to sort us out another table and we were sat on a different table. We didn't even have to wait either. Nevertheless, the customer service from the moment we arrived to the moment we left was excellent, couldn't of been any more perfect. Staff were polite to us both & made us feel very welcome & comfortable. Food was really good quality and goodIgood priced also. I had pizza with sausage meat & bacon (highly recommended) and my partner chose a pasta dish with tomato sauce. The staff serving us were more than accommodating especially to my partner who was lactose free (staff answered my partner's questions about the meal, allergies etc I mean). The pizza base was freshly prepared, using fresh ingredients and we both were very impressed with the restaurant & the politeness of the staff & how accommodating they were to us. Amazing experience. As we arrived, it was empty so I did wonder whether perhaps we had made a mistake, I needn't have worried, we weren'tthe only patrons, simplythe first. We were greeted and shown to a table, and left with a menu, we had enough time to decide what we wanted, but not so much time that we felt forgotten. We opted for the garlic bread sharing platter and it was incredible... I honestly felt we should have ordered one each! I was certainly left wanting more. For our main course, I chose Pollo Siciliana, my partner had Pesce del Giorno (seabass) served with a choice of sides, I went with vegetables and potatoes. I certainly wasn't disappointed, it was delicious. From the moment we entered, the staff were attentive, and friendly.
