My recent two-night stay at The Belmont was a mixed experience. While the hotel itself is clean, newly renovated , and well-appointed, the inconsistent and frustrating customer service, particularly regarding breakfast, unfortunately overshadowed the positive aspects.
My arrival started with a minor hiccup. Having made a last-minute booking between 3:00 and 4:00 PM, I arrived an hour later to find that a room had not yet been assigned to me. However, the young gentleman at the reception was exceptionally polite and welcoming, which made the 10-15 minute wait for my room assignment completely acceptable. He informed me that the last call for breakfast was at 10:30 AM, which I noted.
The problems began the next morning. Despite being told breakfast was included with my room, the dining area staff treated me with suspicion. When they asked for my room number, I was unsure and offered two possibilities. They dismissed one of the numbers in a less-than-polite manner, claiming no such room existed. Their demeanor made me feel as though they believed I was being untruthful, and I had to resolve the issue myself. It later turned out that my room had still not been formally assigned in their system—an internal issue that the staff should have identified and resolved. While they were not overtly rude, the interaction was uncomfortable and took an additional 15 minutes to resolve before I could eat.
The following day was even more frustrating. I went to the reception desk at approximately 10:18 AM to inquire about breakfast, only to find it unattended. After a few minutes, a staff member appeared and informed me that they had already closed breakfast service, assuming no other guests were coming down after 10:15 AM. When I explained that I had not eaten and asked if an exception could be made, they refused, stating the night staff should have reminded me of this odd policy. Their response was polite but firm, offering no solution and leaving me without the breakfast I was entitled to and had paid for.
It's a shame, as the hotel has many great qualities. The building appears to be recently renovated. My standard single room, though small, was very clean and equipped with an iron, ironing board, and a hairdryer. However, it lacked some advertised amenities, such as slippers and a laptop safe, and the WiFi quality was quite poor in my room. The only other downside was a smart TV placed in an awkward position for viewing. The hotel also features a pleasant bar, open until 1:30 AM, and a lovely balcony accessible until 10:30 PM.
In conclusion, while The Belmont is a physically pleasant hotel, the repeated service failures at breakfast were significant enough to sour my stay. Problems can occur even in the best hotels; it's how the staff handles them that makes an establishment truly shine. Unfortunately, in this area, The Belmont fell short, handling these issues with less professionalism than I would expect from even a 3-star hotel. While this was my personal experience and may not happen every time, I would be hesitant to book a...
Read moreWe've just returned from a four night break at The Belmont - we originally tried to book a repeat stay at the sister hotel, the Llandudno Bay, however this was fully booked so we were invited to book here. We arrived and received a lovely welcome from Ellie on Reception, very professional and cheerful. |I think due to a breakdown in communication, we had an issue with our room - I pointed this out to Ellie who arranged for us to change rooms the following morning, this was very much appreciated. No fuss, no drama - the staff even moved our luggage for us. |The Belmont is located just near the Pier / Ferris wheel so the town is only a 5 minute walk away, lovely views of the bay and promenade. The hotel doesn't have a car park and parking is a real issue, this is the same everywhere in Llandudno. There is on-street parking nearby which is free between 4pm and 10am, also zones where you are limited to 90 minutes and no return. Best option - if possible - is to find a space in the residential area up past the tram stop and leave your car there for the duration. All of the streets are covered by CCTV which boosts confidence. |By far the biggest asset to the hotel are the staff. Ellie, as mentioned was lovely as was Chris the manager, nothing too much trouble and very friendly and helpful. Breakfast as has been mentioned in other reviews is good quality and options are a full cooked or a choice of items from the cold buffet, plus of course toast and various cakes and pastries. Plenty of juice and various types of coffee available and we never had to queue for anything.|Rooms are comfortable with very nice bathrooms and amenities, however the only thing that we questioned was the state of the carpets. These were the same in both of the rooms we used and were badly stained, whether or not from careless dog owners or just excessive wear and tear, sadly detracted from the room quality. In fairness, the management are aware and plan to lay new hard floors with rugs under the beds which is a much better option. |The only other criticism (constructive), concerns the wardrobes / hanging space. As can be seen in the photo, these are adequate but a lot of room is taken up with an ironing board and iron plus bathrobes, limiting the space for your own clothing.|Just wondered if it wouldn't be more practical to make an iron and board available from reception for guest use to free up more space? I wonder how many people actually use the irons?|In conclusion, a very nice stay at this boutique hotel with excellent staff, thanks to all who made our...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at The Belmont in Llandudno, and I must say, it exceeded all expectations. Checked in by Benjamin, who was very friendly.
From the moment I stepped into room 305, I knew I had found my sanctuary. The decor was refreshingly chic, devoid of floral patterns and pastel hues, perfectly aligning with my taste. The bed was that cloud that I'd never found outside of my own bedroom.
The room itself was a haven of luxury, boasting a plethora of amenities that truly enhanced my stay. From the well-stocked fridge to the convenient coffee machine, every detail had been carefully considered. The array of complimentary extras, including slippers, grooming kits, eye masks, ear plugs, and a plush dressing gown, added an extra layer of comfort and indulgence.
The room was SPOTLESS!
The bathroom was a highlight, with its lavish offerings of Elemis hand wash and body lotions, indulging my senses with their exquisite fragrances. While there were minor issues like sticky fingerprints on the inside of the window, and empty Elemis shampoo and conditioner bottles, I attributed these to previous rif-raf too cheap to buy their own rather than a flaw in the hotel. I suspect they get guests pilfering this premium product quite a lot.
Breakfast was a delight, with attentive service from the charming staff, particularly the wonderful lady serving and the engaging manager, Chris. Chris's genuine interest in ensuring guests' satisfaction truly stood out, making me feel valued and appreciated as a guest.
Overall, my experience at The Belmont was nothing short of exceptional. I'm already planning a return trip later this year, and there's no doubt that I'll be booking room 305 again. Thank you, Chris, and the entire team at The Belmont for a memorable stay. I can't wait to visit again!
What a wonderful place. See you and your team again soon,
