Ye Olde White Harte — Restaurant in England

Love this pub. I always visit when I'm in Hull on business. Great old world charm. Usually great staff,you always get the odd one;modern world,modern values. I always have a pint of Old Peculiar. One of my favourites. Hard to find as most pubs have gone down the 'trendy' pale ale 'new' IPA route. The standard of the pint is usually spot on. Unfortunately,on a couple of occassions, it has had a very slight sour taste and smell to it. As on this occassion. Different staff members prepping? Different staff members cleaning the pipes? I don't know. But it's there,occassionally. An inconsistancy. A fly in the ointment. A lack of consistant,measurably applied standards. Great pub. Owners/ managers need to pay more attention to the details...

The Ye Olde White hart is the most historic and famous pub in Hull (grade ll listed). Dating back to before the English Civil War the pub is regarded as the place where the English Civil War began. It was in an upstairs Room known as the plotting chamber where the leaders of the city decided to lock the gates to keep out King Charles l, this is regarded as the beginning of the English Civil War. The pub itself has a fantastic interior, with some very nice stained glass windows. There is a nice outside covered drinking area in the courtyard. This used to be one of my favourite pubs in Beverley. Recently they have implemented a no mobile phone policy and enforce it with a heavy hand! The bar staff were very rude to me and our family who had come to Beverley to go round the old pubs. When questioned about the new rule the bar man got very defensive and said it was to be with people streaming music in the pub. He also said the pub wasnt there to entertain its customers! What? Ridiculous rule and will not be going back. Beer selection is also lacking and...
