I was quite disappointed with the play area meant for children. A place designed for kids should feel joyful, and the staff should be friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, I encountered two very rude staff members during my visit.
The first incident occurred at the entrance, where a staff member was checking visitors' bags. When inspecting the bag of the person ahead of me (who was accompanied by four children), the children walked ahead of the adult, but the staff member didn’t seem bothered and even smiled, saying it was fine. However, when it was my turn, I placed my bag in front of the staff for inspection, and my child was standing beside me. The staff member rudely told my child to "get back" in a harsh and unkind tone. Both of my children were visibly shocked by this treatment, and it made us feel quite unwelcome.
After the bag check, we had to queue to enter. However, the queue design was problematic. A small shop was placed right in the middle of the queueing area, and if someone in front of you stopped to make a purchase, the queue would come to a complete halt. This poor design significantly increased the waiting time, which was already long and frustrating, especially for children who were excited to enter.
The second incident involved the staff member responsible for taking the first photo. She asked me how many people were in my group, and since I assumed this was for the photo (which I did not want), I replied that I didn’t want a photo. Immediately, her attitude changed, and she rudely snapped back at me, saying, "I asked you how many people." Her tone was abrupt and unprofessional. I then told her that there were three of us, but reiterated that I didn’t want a photo. She replied, in an even less friendly manner, that we couldn’t proceed because the group ahead of us was still taking photos.
As this was my first visit, I had no way of knowing that there were two consecutive photo stations. Rather than explaining the situation politely, she could have easily informed me in a courteous manner that we needed to wait due to the ongoing photo session ahead. Instead, she chose to use a rude and unhelpful tone, which left a very negative impression. A bit of kindness and professionalism would have gone a long way in making the experience more pleasant.
This was definitely not the experience we had hoped for. Both my children and I left feeling uncomfortable and disappointed. I sincerely hope that improvements will be made, both in terms of staff behaviour and the layout of the...
Read more3 stars As a long-time Shrek fan, I went to Shrek’s Adventure London more out of curiosity and love for the franchise than anything else. Overall, it was an okay experience, definitely more geared toward kids than adult fans. If you’re looking for something whimsical, light-hearted, and family-friendly, it delivers that. But if you’re after something immersive and gripping like the London Dungeon (which is just across the way), this probably won’t hit the same.
The experience follows a basic storyline with various interactive rooms and characters. It’s fun in its own right, with plenty of silly moments, some charming scenes, and a few unexpected twists. However, the acting, set design, and narrative don’t feel as rich or polished as other immersive attractions in London. It’s clear that the main target audience is children, families with younger kids will get the most out of it.
That said, there are some really fun nods to the Shrek universe throughout. I found myself smiling at a few clever references and familiar character appearances. If you're a Shrek fan, those little details are satisfying to spot.
There are two official photography moments: one at the start (a typical green screen setup), and one at the end where you can meet a full-sized Shrek character. If you're choosing one, definitely go for the end photo, it's a lot more personal and feels like a proper meet-and-greet.
But the highlight for me? The photo booth at the end of the shop. I love photo booths—have been to over 100—and I have never seen one as creative and hilarious as this. The angle is flattering (high up, which is rare for booths), and best of all, you literally receive your photo from Shrek’s toilet! It’s such a weird and wonderful touch, and honestly, that alone made the experience for me.
In conclusion: it's a fun, quirky visit, especially for families or Shrek-loving kids. For adult fans, it's more of a novelty than a must-see. I wouldn't personally recommend it unless you're going with children, but if you do go, don’t skip the photo booth at the end....
Read morewonderful experience at Shrek's adventure. Don't be put off by lazy stereotypes or preconceived notions of 'overcommercialised nonsense' or 'lack of relevance to it's historic surroundings'. Shreks adventure is an uncomplicated good time and very worth the ticket price for any shrek fan. I booked through a third party and received a discount on the shrek ears headband. Arrival times were relatively flexible (booked for 2pm but staff were receptive to any time arrival i think so long as not overly busy.).
The experience itself was fantastic. Performers were well drilled and professional, delivering classic shrek lines tinged with pop-culture references all whilst remaining in character as some of the most beloved icons from my childhood. The barmaid was a personal highlight but each of them were very good. The premises was clean and well put together with an impressive amount of shrek based regalia adorning the walls, ceilings, and floors of each space within the building. It was evident there was no stone unturned in their pursuit of ensuring accuracy to the lore of the entire series. Most other customers were up for the experience, clapping and singing along when prompted by staff, all of which added to the festival like atmosphere. To top it all off I even got a warm embrace from the shrek at the end of it all! He didn't seem concerned I was in his swamp.
All in all 10/10, life changing stuff. I was in such a tiz after my visit i found myself drinking around 7 or 8 pints to celebrate the experience I had...
