We booked to play all 3 games on New Year's Eve and thought that would be a fun and chilled way to celebrate. Of course, Boris and Covid had other ideas. Not to be foiled by yet another last minute tier change, escape Plymouth were fab and brought all 3 of our bookings forward to the 30th. Conscious that we had limited time to play the games and make it back for the last train home, they worked at top speed to get us through all 3 games safely and with minimal faff in between. Our game masters were Keiran and Dom and they were super lovely and brilliant fun. They couldn't have been more welcoming or attentive. They really made the experience for us!
As for the games themselves, they were really good. We've played around 50 games all over the UK and we can be pretty hard to please. We normally shy away from franchised game operators as we have found that their games lack the love, care and attention that is so awesome in almost all independent escape rooms. However, the 3 games at Escape Plymouth were a pleasant surprise and were greatly aided by the excellent games masters.
The games all had a nice mixture of challenges but our favourite was Area 51. The game has a really good flow to it and a great array of gadgets to play with. Thoroughly recommend. The games would not have been the same without Kieran and Dom who had a great understanding of when to give clues and get involved.
All in all it was a fantastic experience and a great end to a pretty bizarre year! When fun returns to 2021 we would really recommend going to...
Read moreWe booked the Witchcraft and Wizardry room for 6 x 10yr olds to celebrate my daughter's birthday - something a bit different, we thought and were not disappointed.
Our Escape Room Master, JJ was excellent at engaging the children and prepping them for the next hour of challenging puzzles and Harry Potter-esque fun. Locked in a mysterious room full of intriguing spaces and objects which begged to be invesigated, we submerged ourselves in the fantasy. Hints and tips were trickled in to keep the kids motivated throughout and the sense of success was tangible as they cracked the codes to locks, uncovered keys and discovered hidden treasures. We left the room (a little over-time and with probably more hints than we deserved) with a feeling of accomplishment. The kids did really well and my daughter had a great time.
We finished off the birthday at one of Plymouth's latest entertainment spots and affiliate of Escape Plymouth, Timber Vaults. Their super cafe provided the children with an off-menu selection of burgers, chips and pizza choices at outstanding value for money.
Lee (the owner), his wife and staff went out of their way to ensure all the kids had a lovely time. All in all, we left the party feeling that we'd been well looked after and would not hesitate to return or recommend Escape Plymouth to other budding students of Witchcraft...
