Grosvenor Casino — Attraction in Plymouth

One star based only of the bar staff that managed to ruin my night. The receptionist lovely, even if he had to deny entrance to my friend because she didn’t have her id. The security people brilliant in their attitude towards difficult customers. At the bar… I felt I was served by Vicky Pollard of Little Britain! I asked for wine, if I could smell a tiny tiny bit before ordering a glass and the way this young, awful woman with midleght discoloured pink/yellow hair ( already annoyed just because she had to work) had an entire attitude of disgust, arrogance and rudeness couldn’t be bother with anything I was asking. So I let go and ordered a small pinot Grigio, she got out one of the cheapest bottles they sell out there and in fact, smell awful!! Like yeast! I didn’t drink it, I ordered a Chardonnay. My friend said “they should change it if you don’t like the Pinot, you paid for it” and I tried. She wasn’t there anymore, so I went around to politely ask and as soon as she saw me she sight, rolled her eyes, straight out refused and that upset me because I was polite and wasn’t unreasonable my question. A pleasant meal after ballet at the theatre. Friendly staff, no pressure at all to gamble - I didn't - and more comfortable booth chairs here than the chairs at the theatre. Minimal gambling-related sounds, just people talking and having fun. Don't hesitate to give the place a try as purely a late opening restaurant with a backup 24 hour menu after the main kitchen closes (11PM Wed,Thu; 1AM Mon, Tue, Sun; 2AM Fri; 3AM Sat, may stop an hour or two early on any very quiet Fri, Sat). Good door security as well to keep trouble out of the place - and friendly if you're reasonably sober rather than trouble. No need for a membership to eat, guest entry is...
