I am an artist who recently moved to Fairbanks, I have done gallery shows of my art all around America from San Diego to Baltimore to Austin to Orlando, and was looking for galleries in Alaska I could do some shows at. When I came here there was only one employee who kept looking at me like I would steal something. I thought I was in the wrong store, because I thought this was an art gallery but what I saw was a bunch of cheap tourist merch which was made in Asian and the few items I thought were "local" artists were actually like carvings made in Indonesia. I took out my phone to double check the address and instantly was yelled at by the employee for trying to take a picture! I was just checking Google maps for the address. If you don’t appreciate the selection of knickknacks and more economically priced items and instead want to see more fine Alaskan Art, walk right outside (same building) to Aurora Fine Art.
