Summary - An overcrowded, inconvenient, poorly maintained, dirty gym that seems more focused on selling than working to give people a good service.
Details - Equipment (1) : There is not enough equipment for the number of members that they have accepted, so getting on equipment is always a pain in the butt. There are only about 2 handles for the pully machines so even if you're able to get on one you may not have handles to use them. Dumbells are strewn all over the gym, and finding them can be a pain in the butt. On top of this they have the audacity to rope off 1/3 of the gym in order to charge you more to have access to some exclusive equipment. The equipment is all mostly old as well, and it's dirty because they do not provide much for cleaning on the facility. There's one sit up stand that I use that feels extremely greasy whenever I have to grab the metal handle to lower myself down. Venue (2): The facility is not clean. Some faucets don't work in the locker room. In the pool there are bugs flying around on the walls of the shower. They seem to have more advertisements blasting on the speakers trying to sell you things than other places. Service (1): I once misplaced my keys. I went to the front desk to see if anyone turned them in, and they said that no one had. One of the salesman mocked my situation while I was looking. I was looking for a couple hours. Later when another employee came in they found the keys immediately in the front desk. Turned out the first employee never looked. I rarely see anyone putting weights back where they're supposed to be or cleaning anything. Price (2): The place is priced like most gyms. Crowd (2): While people seem generally nice and do things like let you work in sets, there does seem to be a lot of testosterone. Also, the culture here isn't very considerate when it comes to putting weights back. They're always strewn all over the gym. Location (3): The location is pretty convenient. It's in a shopping center next to a Meijer, which is where I usually get my groceries. There are also fast food and a couple fast casual places in the shopping center, if...
Read moreI don't even know where to begin with this gym! DO NOT SIGN UP HERE! After my visit here yesterday, I cancelled my account right away! I have been working out at this gym for a year now and was already on the verge of cancelling my account after the countless machines breaking down and not being fixed, unsanitary machines (nobody even bothers wiping down their machines before or after use and I have yet to see an employee clean a machine!), hot tub always being filled with all men making it extremely uncomfortable for women as they stare you down the entire time. The last push for me was bringing my sister in for a 2 week free membership and being completely HARRASSED by a sales guy (Blake) within seconds of sitting down with him to go over their promotional sales. We sat down and he asked her minimum 2 "goals" that brought her to the gym. After the second question, he asked "so are you going to sign up or not?" My sister insisted on trying the place out before she considered it and word for word this was his response..."If you aren't going to sign up then why would I give you a free pass to work out here? I am only going to give you a one week pass and you can only use the cardio equipment." He then turns around to the punk a** guy sitting behind him and says "she came in for a free pass, I shouldn't even let her have one week should I? She isn't signing up today." Lets just say "Blake" seen an ugly side to me and so did their "manager" who did eventually pull the guy aside and have a talk with him but insisted we could not use the pool if my sister didn't sign up! When signing up they sell you a package and assure you that you could bring in people to try out the gym for free for two weeks with classes and pool included! I have had two others sign up after they used their free pass with me! To say the least, I would rate this place a 0 if I could. I have never seen such immature, unprofessional, filthy workers in my life!!!! Save...
Read moreThis LA Fitness club has some of the most unprofessional and unethical sales representatives. I approached them in early February 2019 and asked very specifically that I am looking for 3 month personal training program. Paula, LA Fitness representative promised me that it is very much available and signed me up. They charged me enrolment fees and monthly fees of two months, right up front. My first introductory personal training session was scheduled 2 days later with John, their personal training director. After the session, I got the same sales pitch that I can have 3 months personal training. He made me sign up the contract that clearly mentioned 12 months. I raised the red flag but he assured me that I would be able to cancel it after 2 months and hence, only 3 month charges would apply. After the first session, I got a call from LA Fitness headquarters office about my personal training program. The discussion veered into cancellation policy and I was told that if I try to cancel the program in the middle, I would be liable for 50% of annual fees, running into thousands of dollars!
I immediately escalated it and got the contract cancelled. At this point, John shrugged off and told me that they cannot offer 3 month personal training. On top of it, their sessions are 25 minutes each. Apparently, I was intentionally lied to by John and Paula the whole time. I asked the club to cancel my membership with full refund of initial payment of enrollment fees and monthly fees but they refused. I was out of the 3 day period to cancel the membership with no penalty. Their whole strategy was to get me signed up, extract enrollment fees and then run the clock. I have never seen any Gym with such a level of dishonesty.
You can see there are multiple negative reviews about John and Paula below. I wish, I would have read them before. If you are able to read them before joining the club, my advice would be to take your hard earned...
