Used to love this ride as a kid back when they had the original film. The new scenes they put in 2011 are just a mess in my opinion. An example of how George Lucas lost his touch in film making. There are several variations of the ride you can experience with different locations to visit. The whole ride is C-3PO and R2-D2 trying to escort a rebel spy while escaping the empirical forces. It consists of escaping the bad guys, light speeding to a random planet where a bunch of useless stuff happens, talking to a main character that tells you how important the spy is, light speeding into another planet that's in the middle of a battle, escaping the bad guys again, and then tumbling down to the planet and landing safely. The useless stuff in the middle is annoying and borderline stupid in this ride. For example two locations that pop up all the time are Tatooine where C-3PO randomly decides to put everyone in jeopardy and go podracing and Kashyyyk where you just leisurely fly around and eventually fly into a Wookiee. I don't know why those are even in the ride and it just doesn't make sense to me. Am I being too harsh? I mean it is just a scene made for a ride, right? Well it would be ok for me if only it didn't feel like the whole ride was made by a little kid that drank a gallon of Mountain Dew and 10 packs of skittles. Just way too much back and fourth and switches in scenes and the whole ride gives me a headache now with the 3D. George Lucas didn't learn from the prequels and make a coherent ride here. It just ends up feeling like he wanted to stuff as much CGI crap on screen as he could. As Rick McCallum from the Star Wars prequels once said, "it's so dense, every single image has so many...
Read moreAdmission is excessively priced at $164.00. this doesn't include parking, food, drinks, souvenirs, or lodging for those from out of town. Your average family by today's standards is at least 4 people but is increasingly common to see families of 2 parents with 4 children or more plus grandparents often accompany these families making it a family of 8. This brings one day entry to over $1000.00, more than many Americans pay per month for rent. Now these families from our of town who have pets have to board these pets while on vacation adding additional costs. On top of the price being far too high you must now consider how many people are in the park, (makes no sense to me why so many people are there with the prices). Lines are formed for many attractions that make you wait 1, 2, even 41/2 hours just to get on 1 attraction. Now we bring up the fact that Disneyland and California Adventure are on the same property, accessed from the same parking lot, and has gates linking the two so patrons can go from 1 Park to the other. This park is considered a separate park and thusly is a separate cost. Disney, please stop greedily grasping at money so much that regular people like me can't afford to visit the park. It is a great park, it's just incredibly...
Read moreStar Tours is now considered a staple in anyone's Disneyland diet. The ride uses enclosed cabins (flight simulator) with hydraulics and moving platforms to whisk you all around, creating the feeling of movement (G-forces) as you watch a screen of your adventure unfold. Your pilot, Rex, is a fun-loving goof ball robot that tells you its his first day on the job so you might want to make sure you seatbelt is fastened before takeoff!
Even the queue line has an abundance of movie characters that are funny and simply cool to watch.
For anyone who loves the movies, you will definitely love this ride.
