Another one of the quick service cafeteria style food stalls at Disneyland.
Whether it be Food Services of America (FSA) or Cisco or some other giant frozen food distributors it really doesn't matter. Frozen burger patties, frozen french fries, frozen onion rings etc.. seem to be the norm at Disneyland unless you spend a boatload of money at a table service restaurant.
I personally would think that Disney would do a much better job of making the food as much a part of the whole Disney experience as the rest of the park attractions but they fail miserably. I can see Disney stimulating the local economies and environments with not only resorts and tourism money but by locally sourcing fresh meat, fruits and vegetables from local farms and nurseries etc... On one hand, Disney is about education and nutrition and on the back of that same hand, they are about shoveling garbage out to people as fast as they can.
Sometimes you do just want some junk food and there is enough to go around in the parks and people will consume whatever they want to especially when they are on vacation for this doesn't sit well for Disney's image to me.
When I pay a large chunk of my yearly income to visit the parks and experience the "Disney Magic", I expect to experience that same Disney Magic when I eat inside the park. More often than not, it turns out that I am unsatisfied with my purchase but I eat it just the same not only because it's all I have to eat but also because of the amount of money that I spent on it.
The Galactic Grill offers a few different burgers, some chicken strips and fries and a salad or two. My mom ordered the chopper salad and you'd think that would be a chop salad right? Not so much. It only had chicken on it and none of the regular chop salad ingredients.
Anyway, I'm rambling. If you're okay with mediocre food, any quick service place in the Disney parks will suffice including Galactic Grill. Here you can order a Dark Side drink (Strawberry Lemonade) that comes with a souvenir plastic light up Death Star or a Light Side drink (Sour Apple Lemonade with yogurt meteors (Tapioca) with a light up Millennium Falcon souvenir.
The food all has Star Wars themed names like the First Order specialty burger or the Cheese 3-PO burger but it's all still the same bland pre-packaged and frozen food that you get anywhere.
Enjoy and thanks...
Read moreThe Baseline: For theme park to-go food stands the food must be tasty, have an experience, reliable service, and be a part of the experience.
Food: The food at Galactic Grill is a nice standard theme park fare of selections and this is good that Disney offers this. If you go to Galaxy’s Edge and get the full Star Wars themed dishes it might throw some people off. Kids will want chicken fingers and not Tip-Yip. Galactic Grill offers that type of food and they do it well. There is a nice themed element added in at times but overall you can come here for a burger, chicken tenders, fries, etc. and you will get that theme park food experience. My recent visit was the Galaxy Fish N Chips (decent rockfish that had a good crispiness to the batter fry), Space Place Cottage Fries (Crispy and good to dip in the BBQ sauce), Chicken & Veggie Rice Bowl (Kid’s Check item but really this is good for adults looking to avoid a fried food), Pineapple Parfait (Stitch chocolate on top of a cream and pineapple Carmel and sponge cake), and we had a Strawberry Pineapple Smoothie (delicious, sweet, and we now have a Mickey glow bauble). The food is pretty standard baseline but gets a boost for the theming. NOTE: Menu items here change all the time because of the seasonal themes.
Service: Disney Cast members service with friendliness and a smile. Cannot complain and make sure you are nice back at them.
Ambiance: Galactic Grill is in the heart of Tomorrowland and it shows. Retro-sci-fi vibes in decor and music with cool space themed lighting. I need to give a call out to the best Trash can in the park (I know a trash can) but it has a statue of BD-1 (from Jedi Fallen Order/Jedi Survivor games) on the top of the trash can. Best Easter egg in Disneyland I have found in a long time. Besides my love of the trash can you can view fireworks and sometimes a show from the seating areas which makes this a great place to...
Read moreGalactic Grill is a good spot for American grub and seasonal treats. From breakfast through dinner, you'll have plenty of options to satisfy your hunger and sweet tooth or refresh your thirst. Seasonal and Magic Key Holder items are also available. There's plenty of seating with shade around the restaurant, and CMs roam around to keep the area clean and tidy.
For breakfast, I enjoyed the American and Soy Chorizo burritos. Both are flavorful and filling. The breakfast bagel sandwich and chicken tenders are also available for breakfast.
The regular cheeseburger is decent, but the beef patties could use more seasoning and can sometimes be dry. I've had a few seasonal and specialty burgers that I enjoyed. The skinny fries are average, but other entrées sometimes include crinkle or seasoned steak fries.
My recent favorite item is the Galaxy Fish 'n' Chips—a good value for under $15, which includes three freshly fried fish pieces and seasoned steak fries.
Desserts are also popular items available. Recent orders I enjoyed were the Galaxy Parfait, Darth by Chocolate, and Orange Vanilla Parfait. The desserts tend to be on the highly sweet side.
Magic Key holder discounts apply! I also recommend ordering through the Disneyland mobile app to save time from...
