Brown Dog Bakery — Attraction in Ankeny

Used their self serve dog washing station. Overall, it worked for my large dog. But it was a first time and really no introduction or instruction, just a "it's ready". Just one station to use, but didn't have to wait so that was nice. No reservations allowed, first come first serve. Room was small and also included a wire kennel where a dog was placed that barked loudly continuously. Water didn't warm much so kinda cool bath, however the water hose set up was easy to use. Website said everything included for professional bath - there were two half bottle of shampoo and two refilled bottle of other shampoo, didn't see label so didn't use. Clerk said it was written on top of lid. No conditioner (clerk said they were out ?) or deshedding shampoo. Dryer didn't work initially so had to leave dog in tub to go out in the store to ask why. He didn't jump but easily could have. Then airflow was very strong due to a directional nozzle but it fell off when I was halfway done which really helped. It also never warmed up. Handle got warm to hold but air wasnt warm like a hair dryer. Again, scared him but was just really too forceful against his skin. and he didn't like it so I was using my hand to diffuse it. I dried him in the tub as they recommended but I wasn't comfortable standing on a wet floor after the bath using an electrical appliance. There was a basket of a couple of brushes and combs available. Nice clean white big bath towels for drying. Overall, it was fine and got the job done. I was able to bathe him but I was soaked down the front when I left. Again, it was my first time. But I'd probably wear a rain jacket or bring an apron or something next time. It’s such a cute little cozy place for dog owners and anyone that would love to go and have a look at the variety products and TREATS that they carry! You can buy simple minimalist design cookie treats from their biscuit bar. Or ! You can get special design cookie treats up (such as gotcha day, happy birthday, Oreo design cookie, burger design cookie, donut design, cupcake design... you get the idea 😉) front right next to the register! They carry different size cookie treats from extra small to extra large.

The service is excellent and Anna (cashier) was really nice. She even offer us gender design color cookie treats to make sure she can give us the prefer color design or certain cookie ! It’s shows that they do care about their customer and customer’s fur babies.

The prices are pretty affordable and reasonable ! Taking into account that there are so many different variety of cookie treats to pick out too. They also carry a lot of other products from dry food to toy, you name it they have it. It’s also a place where you can bring your fur babies in for they bath and grooming. Basically everything you need in one place.

I love the fact that I can get dog friendly diy ice cream or cake from this store too. It’s our first time here but we will be coming back for sure ! You don’t have to worry about parking as there are a lot of parking right out...

Horrible grooming experience, took the dog in at 9:45 am and finished at 430pm. Customer service horrible at checkout. Asked what took so long said they had staff going home sick and they squeezed my dog with another groomer never got notified of why it was taking so long or anything. After multiple called to find out if my dog was done i was informed that they had a groomer go home ill. I asked why i was never called or texted they informed me that they texted a number right before i called at 4:30 and after confirming the number that they texted it was a wrong number i never received any texts. When i got their to pick up the dog a lady came out with my dog and said they could of vary well canceled my appt and next available would of been January even though it was their own fault for staff shortage. I asked if their was any discount available because it was their mistake and keeping the dog all day and not informing me as the owner whats going on she said no and if i didn't like it i should look for a different groomer.
