We signed and lived 6 months under the Millcreek Property Management Group and the complex was previously name "Modera Prominence" and then 5 months with the new management company RPM.
First 6 months were AMAZING! Staff, amenities, and security were worth the price of the unit.
The last 5 months of our lease were what this 1 star is about. We were unaware of management change until we were unable to pay rent because their portal was being developed. 2 weeks later, we were still unable to pay rent, but told once the portal is up, we need to pay and if we don't we will receive a late fee. It was in bad taste to threaten late fees when the property is at fault for delay. We had a ground floor apartment, one night I woke up to someone attempting to break in. I scared this man off and ran into the lobby to get security and called 911. Come to find out, our overnight security that was previously there and one of the reasons we leased at this price was no longer there without notice. 45 minutes later, police came and nothing happened. I sent 4 emails, 2 voicemails, 1 in-person visit about the incident to discuss leaving our lease early by 1 month because I felt uneasy and was unsatisfied with the security. It was like pulling teeth to get an answer and took many in-person visits to the GM (at the time) but 2 months went by and I was able to put a notice. I asked if there was anything to sign or a move out form needed, the answer was no. I thought that was strange, and asked 2 more times before leaving the building for good. We scheduled move out with concierge 2 weeks in advance. They called us 3 days prior to change our time because they double booked the loading dock, so I had to adjust our plans with the movers. Morning of move out, concierge had no idea of our loading dock reservation. Once that was figured out we were given a key to the elevator to lock it on floors without explanation on use. We weren't sure how to use it and eventually needed help catching the elevator. In the time we were "catching it", the leasing office rep told us it was a $200 charge if we lost that key. Again, no one told us how to use it. We had difficulty leaving because another moving truck was coming in, I spoke with that party and they said they had to move their time because they said they were double booked so not only did RPM inconvenience two move outs, but they made the problem happen again on their own accord. No explanation or apology given. Fast forward to our actual lease end (it ended 3 weeks after we actually moved out). I get a call back from RPM/Prominence (finally) telling me that my lease ends on X date and I need to be there to sign paperwork. I told them I'd be happy to go into town and turn these items in (that I had asked about 3 times already) on a date 3 days later because its a 45 minute drive. The concierge told me you'll be charged with a late fee. No, let me talk to the GM right now to straighten it out. He was busy (new GM) and he called back. I explained the above and they allowed me to come in on the day we could to turn things in and sign paperwork. (+) And finally, not that I expected anything in return from our deposit, the final statement just so happen have line items to equal a $0 due by the property to the unit lease of remaining deposit. Seemed super convenient. There were other noticeable things (cleanliness, amenities not working, garage door being open for 2 weeks solid) that affected daily living with the new management company but all the above were the most concerning.
Advice to management: Look at your unit file notes and see that units have been wronged multiple times. Own up to your mistakes in transition. I'm not interested in talking the issues through and if you gave me a number to call, it would probably go to voicemail and I would not get a call back. Don't bother.
Advice to apartment hunters: Luxury does not always mean luxury. I would trust Millcreek Properties again and not this one. The star average is higher than it should be because of the initial...
Read moreUPDATE-I was all for this place until I moved in and realized that this place is not what it seems. When I initially moved in, I was told to stick the barcode sticker for the gate in the dashboard and resident parking sticker in the window. It was never explained to me that there was an option to put the barcode sticker to the gate in the window. I noticed after a little over a month of living here that the sticker started to curl up on the edges and continued to do so until it was only sticking in the middle. I went out of town for the holiday and did a lot of driving. I did roll my windows down a couple of times. I noticed last night when I returned, my barcode gate opener sticker was missing. I called the office today and spoke to Patricia. I explained the situation to her, and she said that I would have to pay $100 for a new barcode sticker. I stated to Patricia that I shouldn’t be penalized and charged for another sticker if the sticker had an issue sticking from the beginning. Patricia then stated that I should have stuck it in the window and that people always say that they don’t stick properly. I explained again that I wasn’t told that I had an option to stick in the window but was told to put in the dashboard. Patricia started to get impatient and said that I have to pay like everyone else. Then as I started to express how unfair this is that I am being charged for something that’s out of my control, Patricia started to talk over me which is very rude. I stated to Patricia that I allowed her to speak and don’t appreciate her talking over me. I explained that I would reach out to corporate then she yelled at me "speak". I asked her if there was a temp gate opener that she could give me while I reach out to corporate and she said yes, but if I don’t bring back in the time frame then I would be charged the $100. I went to get the temp gate opener. I spoke to Damien when I arrived who went in the office with Sanai and Patricia and closed the door. After their conversation, Damien told me that I could go in to speak to Sanai. I explained everything to Sanai (property manager), and she immediately apologized for the way Patricia (Assistant Manager) treated me, she also apologized that I was told that I could get a temp pass because they are not supposed to give out temp passes. Sanai then goes on about being consistent due to fair housing and said that she would have to charge me. I explained to her that I am very familiar with fair housing but when the communication was not given in full detail in the beginning then that falls on the property in which the property should make right. Honestly, not giving me the full detail on how to display the gate pass and giving full detail to other move-ins is not consistent which that is against fair housing. I was told that people lie so it makes it hard for other tenants. If I was told at move in that I could display the sticker in the window or on the dash I would have chosen the window especially when I noticed that the ends of the sticker were coming up from the beginning. I didn’t even know that the front part of the sticker had a sticky part. Needless to say, this is not fair that I have to pay $100. I have reached out to corporate a couple times over the last week and have yet to get a response which is unprofessional. If I could get out of the renewal that I just signed I most definitely would move out. (I only renewed because I didn't want to deal with the hassle of moving and NOT because this is the place to be) There isn't enough parking for the number of tenants, so make sure that you come in early to get a spot. The halls smell like urine and the coffee bar is never stocked properly or does not work. The hallway walls have lots of scuffs and spots, and the quality of tenants has...
Read moreDo you want to live in a dirty, stinky building with management that doesn’t take accountability for their actions? This might be the place for you!
Here are a few of the worst things that happened in my time at Prominence:
My car got booted in a reserved spot that I was paying extra for each month, because management double booked the spot between me and another resident. Management prolonged refunding me for as long as they could, and in general they had to be tracked down and pestered repeatedly in order to get anything done. My key fob didn’t work at 11 p.m. when I came back from visiting my grandma in hospice and when security called management to try to help me get into my apartment, Roman said that it “wasn’t an emergency” and hung up the phone. This happened because management did not re-program the key fob in accordance with my lease when I moved in. When I moved in we had reserved the loading dock, but on move-in day nobody was there to unlock it. We had to park our truck elsewhere and in the meantime of figuring out where to park, the valet at the shops below threatened to have us towed. My unit was not clean when I moved in, even though I specifically visited the unit two days before moving in and brought it to their attention that the unit needed to be cleaned. I spent over two hours cleaning it on move-in day. Many light bulbs were also burnt out and it became clear that Prominence lacks attention to detail.
Honorable mentions:
The building constantly reeks of weed. It will come through your air vents at all hours of the day and they do not take action to enforce a no-smoking policy. The hallways often smell bad from very large pile-ups in the trash room. Tenants do not make any effort to keep the building clean, nor does management do anything to enforce it. Maintenance doesn’t clean up after themselves. After drilling into the ceiling in the hallway, my lock and door handle were covered in dust, in addition to my wreath and doormat. The elevators are often broken, and one elevator was more than a year overdo for an inspection in the duration of my time here.
Overall, I would not recommend. This building is very overpriced for what it is. And my experiences were not very unique—in my time at Prominence I heard similar complaints from other tenants.
Most of the positive reviews I see here are from perspective tenants that do not yet live in the building, or individuals that have just moved in....
