Coming from out of town, we didn't know what to expect but we were hopeful. Google, the car navigation system, AND our eyes were hard pressed to find the hotel. I know this seems hard to believe, but there were trees in the way of our eyesight from the car and neither navigation system said oh btw, it's on the right side of the road, enter now. I do think additional signage would assist out of towners. This hotel is on Peachtree, which is an incredibly busy thoroughfare. You cannot see the self park from Peachtree, so we needed to pull up and into the front ramp/main entrance. So, so busy, and it appeared there were not enough staff to handle all the people wanting valet service. Once I got through the doors, check in was very fast, so fast I honestly couldn't follow what the staff member was saying for wifi, pool, breakfast, self-park directions, bar hours, etc. One suggestion I have is to maybe print these helpful tips on the little envelope that contains your room keys. Self park is behind/next to (sorta) the hotel. Access is gained by tapping the room key on the ticket distributor and appeared to be free to me since there was not a separate charge on my bill for it. I had read recent reviews about people's cars being broken into on the second floor of the car park, so we went up to the third floor where no one was. We unloaded the car and dogs--it's great that the hotel is pet friendly. Our room was 1824, a corner king room. The views were awesome. The bathroom was clean and offered Balmain products. The bed was also clean. Remote is sanitized in a plastic bag. The rug in the 18th floor hallway was not as clean as it should have been, but I will cut them some slack since it was the end of the day. Overnight was really challenging with the air conditioning. It blew right on where our heads rested on the bed and it was impossible to figure out how to keep the temp cool on a summer night and off our heads. The eco button didnt really do much to fix it either. We ended sleeping with our heads where our feet should be. The bed, as other reviewers have indicted, was way too hard for my liking. Needless to say, I didn't rest well, but the bathroom and views made up for my discomfort. Would I stay here again? Probably not because it is a definite project to get into the hotel, and people come and go all throughout the night in the hallways. But I can see how other people would love being right in the thick of things in downtown Buckhead. There are a lot of restaurants within walking distance and Starbucks is on the corner and Caribou across the street. Thankfully, the car was ok when I got it the...
Read moreAttended a formal event Saturday in the Highland ballroom and the bartending service was horrifying. The event space, catering staff and chef were phenomenal but the bartender and his service turned many guests away, including myself. He was frustrated with the machine not working to take cards, and thus created a line and caused a delay in us entering the ballroom to begin the event. We all politely waited for him, allowed 1-2 ppl paying cash to move ahead and joked with him to help him calm down as we helped troubleshoot the machine (which only required a restart). I ordered an old fashioned and before taking more than several steps, turned around to discreetly let him know there were black particles in the ice of my drink. He took my drink and stirred it with my straw in disagreement. I pointed out they weren’t small and very visible, requesting a remake. Annoyed, he sat my drink down, got ice from inside the area chilling the open wine bottles, placed it in a new glass and began pouring my previous drink with the bad ice over the ice from the wine bottles. I immediately declined as that ice is not for serving if it’s chilling the opened bottles. He yelled at me in front of the other guests and event host (she was wondering what the delay was atp so the event could start) “ma’am you are bothering me!”. Taken aback, guests gasping as him yelling at me, I questioned, “because I refuse to drink dirty ice, sir?”. I now preferred no have no drink and for him to keep the drink and what I paid + tip. This was a formal event so I held my composure but the treatment was uncalled for, in addition, the dirty ice needed to be addressed! The ice was visibly dirty with black particles inside & to grab a drink as if your own, toy with it via my straw and give it back to me as if acceptable, get more dirty ice and pour the dirty drink on top… all unacceptable. He continued the remake without ice (since the guests and host were all waiting on him to finish my drink and the 4-5 ppl after me) and forgot to add the alcohol. Horrible start to a nice evening and event and it needed to be mentioned to make others aware. Again, the entire serving staff and chef were phenomenal. As the only vegan, he easily and quickly prepared an alternative meal that I was very pleased with. I was grateful for the host’s consideration in providing vegetarian options and even more impressed that the chef could accommodate a one off vegan plate. Well done GH. Had me considering using them to host a future event but the ice and bartending service...

I would agree with that rating solely on the appearance and cleanliness of the hotel. Upon arriving at the hotel we were greeted professionally and in a welcoming manner by valet personnel. The check-in process was smooth as well. After getting to my room, I decided based on the room view that I wanted a higher floor. I made contact with the front desk staff who had checked me in and asked if I could get a room on a higher floor. At that time, the staff member advised me that there were no other king rooms available nor available on a higher floor. I trusted what she had told me but verified by logging onto the hotels website to determine if there were king rooms available. When it showed there were, I contacted the front desk and spoke to another staff member who informed me that there were king rooms available on a higher floor for an additional upgrade charge. I accepted the new charge and was provided a key and assistance with my luggage. Upon entering the second room, I discovered the bathroom sink had drainage problems. I contacted the front desk again and another front desk staff member apologized for the inconvenience and provided me with other floor options that had king rooms. I accepted the change and moved a third time. This process was time consuming as I had become frustrated because of the extra moving.
After checking out of the hotel and a few days had passed, I noticed I had been charged a higher price than expected. I contacted the hotel and was advised the charges were due to the upgrade and valet. I informed the agent that we had not taken advantage of valet and had used self parking. I am providing my written review because I feel as if my check-in experience was not satisfactory as the extra moves could have been avoided. I strongly feel that if I had been provided truthful information upon my arrival, the extra room changes could have been avoided. Additionally, I did not appreciate being charged for a service that I did not receive and had to contact the hotel to refund those charges. I hope in the future these types of actions can...
