Let me first start of by saying I love the Courtyard Marriott brand. I stay at most Courtyard by Marriott properties when I travel and it has always been a pleasant and often a great experience.
I don't write too many of these reviews but I had to take the time to write this one. I did not enjoy my stay at this particular Courtyard at all. It did not feel like I was staying at a Courtyard by Marriott. It is by far in need of a customer service rehabilitation makeover.
First the staff are not friendly and do not greet you when entering or leaving the premises. If there is a line at the front desk they do not ensure others waiting that they will be tend to. I found that odd not to do this considering customers needs and time it takes to solve issues can take time. Yet no assurances are given to those waiting that they will be tend to in a reasonable manner.
I did not recieve any linen or towel changes the entire 3 days I stayed at this property. No cleanup crew. No trash removal. Nothing.
I found 2 live insects in the room. They appeared to have come from underneath the A/C unit. This was something I have never seen ever at a Marriott hotel before.
Lastly, which is likely not a fault of the staff. But I do have to address it. I gets pretty loud in the hallway outside the room. You can hear other guests in the middle of the night. Seems like the rooms are not insultated enough to block sounds coming from the outer hallways. The slamming of doors or how the main doors close also can be heard. Likely because the doors are heavy and can be jarring to anyone that sleeps at night when someone is entering or leaving a room.
I don't recall being told by staff upon checking in about morning breakfast being served or options to order food at night, etc. This is usually standard and it was not offered or mentioned at check in.
At checkout I was not asked how my stay was or if I enjoyed my stay. Seems there is a lack of training when communicating with guests or acknowledging if guests were satisified with their accommodations.
The biggest issue for me was lack of linen and towel changes for 3 days and unfriendly front desk staff. I know this is not common for a Courtyard property because I have stayed at many of them. I hope some of these issues are addressed at this location in order to make it into the brand that I remember it for. Being great at customer service. Providing a premium quality stay with...
Read moreI am a big fan of the Courtyard and always choose courtyard when I stay with Marriott. However, I am pretty upset about this stay. Because the flight was delayed, we (we have 4 people together) arrived at the hotel around 1:30 am next day. I called from the airport around 7pm to notify the front desk that we would be arriving late and got the confirmation that someone would get it ready for us. When we checked in, the front went through the regular check-in process without mentioning anything. When I got the room keys, just wanted to double check, I asked whether it was Double Queen room. Then the front desk told me that our reservation was changed to Double Full room because the Double Queen room's air conditioner was not working and they could not get it fixed on time. Basically he did not intend to tell us until I asked. Then I asked why he could not notify us earlier and he said he did not have my cellphone number! I was pretty upset because it was not comfortable for 4 of us to share Double Full room. That's why I booked Double Queen room. However, I was told that there was no other options but to accept the change. The front desk told me that he was not authorized to give us upgrade (to two Double Full Room or two King room). He could only give us another Double Full room if I agreed to pay for it. As far as I understand, it's the hotel's responsibility to provide the customer a solution when there's situation beyond control. If you cannot provide us the original Double Queen room I booked, you should at least upgrade it, not downgrade it, and the customer should not be paying the additional charges. I spent at least 25 minutes arguing this with the front desk (at 1:30 am!) but he just refused to offer another option. By the end, he agreed to give us free parking pass for the night and 20,000 bonus points to my rewards account. I felt tired at that time and had to agree. However, it turns out that the parking coupon was not working at all when we try to swipe it into the garage. Another customer staying there helped us to get into the garage. And I have not received any rewards points so far. The whole experience was very disappointing. We stayed another night with Springhill Suites and the experience was amazing. I hope you consider this review seriously cause we may not choose to stay with Courtyard again if such things...
Read moreFirst thing to know about most of the modern, chain hotels in the Buckhead area is that the Marta subway system is the way to get to them. The Red Line, for example, will take you right from Hartsfield-Jackson Airport to the Buckhead Station. We had no trouble using this system to get to Buckhead, and from there to Peachtree Center, where most of Atlanta’s attractions are within walking distance.||That there is a plethora of hotels near this station means that you can’t just walk out of this station and expect to easily find this, or any other hotel. It was thus a blessing that Marta has supplied clear & helpful signs in the station to help anyone wanting to know which direction to walk from the station. It’s a pretty easy, five-minute walk from there to the Courtyard.|Take the south exit of the Buckhead Station, and go up the first stairs (or take the elevator) you come to. Turn right as you exit the station, and do NOT cross over the Peachtree Road. If you pass South City Kitchen on your right, you're going in the correct direction. The first intersection with a traffic light you come to will be Tower Place Drive, and Courtyard is just block from here. |Because the hotel hosting the conference we were attending was just a five minute walk away from the Courtyard, we made the (fairly easy) decision to stay here & walk to the conference hotel. If you’re attending a conference in the Buckhead area, you should compare prices for all hotels in the area, and compare them to the conference hotel.||Our room had full bath, phone, fridge, AC, iron & board, hair dryer, coffee maker, and TV with 40 channels. It was clean & well-maintained, but construction on the floor below us during the day was somewhat distracting. Free amenities include wifi (quite good), indoor pool, exercise room, and computers with printers in the lobby. There is cost for parking at the hotel. There are restaurants within the hotel, and several within walking distance nearby. A small market selling a few munchies (at hotel prices) is available 24/7. Staff was friendly & efficient.||If you have business in the Buckhead area, or if you don’t mind riding Marta to downtown Atlanta, this place can be a...
