If youâre looking for a break from the heat, look no further than a ghost tour that will chill you to the bone: Walking Tour of Austinâs Ghost Walk is THE tour to take if you want to know the real stories behind this secretly haunted city!
I am a ghost tour connoisseurâwe try to go on one everywhere we go, so this was a must for our Austin trip. I had booked a different company who canceled our tour last minute. (It was the Ghost City tour, just in case youâre wonderingâŚ) Luckily, Jim had openings, and his tour is TOP of the line.
He is incredibly knowledgeable and an excellent storyteller. Not only do you walk around downtown and see the facades of all these cool buildings while hearing tales of the paranormal, but Jim has the hookup to get you inside several fabled locations for a closer lookâvery very cool.
Walking Tours of Austin also offers a Murder Walk Tour thatâs all about Americaâs first serial killer, and I canât wait to check that one out when Iâm in Austin again.
Thanks for canceling, Ghost City!! So glad we ended...
Read moreWe booked the tour âDowntown Austin Private Walk: Food, Drinks, and Historyâ which was a misleading name for the tour. In reality, the tour should be called âDowntown Austin Private Walk: Food, Drinks, and History are NOT INCLUDEDâ. There is no food and drinks on this tour, you can stop at a brewery and buy your own beer. Only in the confirmation email does it say in small letters that the food and drinks are not included, which unfortunately I saw within 24 hours or the tour when it was too late to cancel. The private tour is $65 per person, but they email you and ask if they can add more people to the tour, which I thought is unfair considering you pay a high price for the tour to be private. Itâs advertised that the tour is 2.5 hours, but it was just under 2 hours. Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because our tour guide was nice and friendly. This review is more for the tour company and the misleading...
Read moreWe loved the morning walking tour with Tyler! One of my favorite parts of our time in Austin. He was so engaging and knowledgeable. I was in Austin for a work trip so we explored a lot. The city is so amazing on its own but such an added experience doing this tour as we got to learn the history and see different aspects that you may not have thought about. The walk was about a mile all together but plenty of stopping points to hear about different buildings and/or stories. You do get to go inside the Driskill Hotel (yay for AC!) which has beautiful architectural features and Tyler shared a bit of Jesse Driskill's story. If you want to grab coffee or snacks before the walk at Jo's (where you meet the tour guide), get there a bit early as the lines get long. Highly recommend...
