Would’ve been much better if we’d had curtains in the eastern facing windows. Guess they want you up early. Everything is clean. Bed is very firm. Building looks like they have recently renovated it. Addition: there were only electrical outlets on one side of the bed. No table or lamp or anything for the other side. We were in room 501. Our friends were in 204 and they did have curtains. A/C worked great. If anyone used the spiral staircase everyone in the building could hear it. To be fair, it is a really old building. Not sure I like the “no contact” and all electronic check in. I’d at least have liked to have had a phone number for someone if I had a problem. Decent place but probably wo t stay there again mainly due to the price being so high and how little you get for it.

This place is magical! This building dates to 1881. At the turn of the millennium, The Brexton was a condemned boarded-up shell slated to be razed. Fifteen years ago, this building was lovingly restored by a local developer. This is the perfect property for wedding parties since this hotel has only 25 rooms. I spent two weeks here. The general manager, Terrell, made sure I was comfortable throughout my stay. He also regaled me with stories about the building. Shay was also amazing. The entire staff was kind, helpful, and pleasant. The rooms are large and well-appointed. There is a microwave in the downstairs kitchen. Bookings for this hotel are cheapest on Agoda.

Their reservation system was terrible. They gave me a room that other people were using. Fortunately there were no people, but I shocked. They gave us other room, but that room had a lot of problems. So we asked to change other room, but there were no available rooms any more. In addition, free breakfast was so simple, and place was also bad. I didn’t eat free breakfast at all. Parking was super difficult. We had to park somewhere to apart from about 10min by walk. I send to complain email to manager, but I didn’t recieve any reply. Their service and facility are bad. If you don’t want to spoil your trip, plz don’t go this hotel.

We will be contacting the hotel to make a formal complaint. We made our choice based on the trip advisor rating. We have to question how this hotel received such a high rating. We will think twice about using trip advisor as a source in the future. ||||1. AC not working in the lobby, hallway, and breakfast area.||2. Safety concerns - Our key did not work and when the clerk rekeyed it, the front desk attendant said that she had forgotten but our room (#602) needed to be keyed as room 601 in order for the key to work. When asked if room 601 could access our room, she said "yes, but I'm sure they won't try." There was no additional safety latch on the door to assure nobody entered the room.||3. The worst part was that our room smelled like human urine. The chair in the room had what looked like bodily fluid stains on it.||4. Our a/c unit which was installed above the bed was dripping on the pillows and mattress. When we called the front desk, the attendant said she was sorry but she didn't know what she could do about that. She said she only had one room that was available but the TV was not working. She shared that she herself had stayed in our room and if she remembered correctly it didn't drip for long. We ended up having to empty the AC drip pan and put a spare blanket from the closet across the head of the bed because the mattress was completely wet in the area where our heads would be.||5. We had to use our towels to absorb the AC water and when we called the front desk for more, could not get someone to answer the phone. Tried housekeeping no answer. Tried maintenance no answer. We ended up sharing a bath towel in the morning.||6. There was a Keurig in the room but no coffee, cups or supplies.||7. There was human hair (not our own) all over the bathroom floor. The room was not well maintained or very clean.||8. The breakfast room was a couple of tables and chairs in the basement. The continental breakfast had minimal selection. They had an elaborate coffee station machine that offered many different selections but of the three different selections we tried, the machine was not working.||9. When checking out the next morning, the front desk clerk (a young man) was reading as we walked up and then proceeded to continue reading as we were standing there. He didn't even acknowledge us until we said something although there was no way for him not to have seen us approach the counter.||10. Not in the best of areas.||11. Parking was minimal.||||We would never stay here again and I would not recommend anyone staying here. Looks...

I booked this place before reading the TA reviews and the negative ones did have me worried but overall it was a pleasant experience. First off, I'd say that if you're tech-challenged, don't have a smart phone, or don't feel comfortable running your entire booking & stay experience on a smartphone this hotel probably isn't for you. Everything is run through an app called Jurny. Check-in process, unlocking the door, contacting hotel, it all happens through the app. So if you run into problems during your stay just know there is no one in the hotel to help you. You'll essentially be texting someone off site. This was fine for me. I asked for early check in and the responses were timely. I wasn't able to get early check in but that wasn't a problem. Parking spots are available out front and thankfully I was able to snag one as someone was leaving otherwise you'll be looking for street parking or a garage which can be hard to find. You have to email the app a picture of your car and license plate number if you are lucky to get a hotel parking space. I was annoyed that a huge work truck was taking up two spaces in front of the hotel which is supposed to be for guests. I also would have parked in the 124 W Read St garage but it didn't allow for garage access between 7 PM and 7 AM which didn't work for me. But if you don't need to get into your car between those hours that may be an option for you. Entry into the hotel is simple. You're given an entry code upon booking with instructions to get into your room. Again, you use your phone to enter the room. It worked fine for me, I know others had issues. The room was spacious and clean. I know others have had issues with cleanliness but I had none. I also didn't encounter any noise. Being on the 4th floor may have helped since there was a busy bar across the street. The bathroom did only have 2 towels despite the room having two queen beds and we had 4 people. And the faucet was very loose in the bathroom. But those are my only complaints. Overall my experience was pleasant and I would recommend this hotel to people who don't mind using their phone for the...

These pics were taken at the end of My stay here, so they may not be the best.

I however did enjoy my stay. The hotel was in a not so busy part of downtown Baltimore, but it was close enough walking distance to places I had in mind to visit while there. The hotel was very quiet, didn't get disturbed one and it didn't matter the time of day. The hotel is contactless, so there's no front desk, but I had no need for one either. There are a couple of members of a cleaning staff daily but they are there to tend to the rooms after guest leave. I'm not sure if you requested a room refresh if they'd provide that service though. Parking was limited, but by the hotel not being as busy as one of the more bigger chains I never had an issue getting a space right out front. The staff there were friendly and greeted Me every time they saw Me.

Some cons I can point out:

The rest room in my unit kept my room from being the warmest it could be, but closing the door made it a more comfortable temp.

The attention to detail when cleaning should be gone over with the cleaning staff. I did go over high touch areas with my own disinfectant wipes. There were things left behind from the previous guest that should have not been there by my check in.

I requested early check-in but when I got there My code to obtain access didn't work! Luckily there was someone in the main sitting area to let Me in. One of the staff members I let know about the situation did make sure that by the next time I had to come through the door my code should be good to use and it was so I'm grateful for that!

All and all I would definitely stay here again. The location is great, it's reasonably priced and it's quite and those are major...
