This gym could have easily earned three or four stars for being a solid small-town facility if not for their outdated and frustrating cancellation policy. When you first sign up, it’s easy to gloss over the fine pront, which is why I want to call extra attention to it here.
They technically have a standard 30-day cancellation policy, but the execution is far from standard. You’re required to either cancel in person or send a certified letter...no email, no phone, no online form. This might have made sense years ago, but it’s wildly inconvenient now, especially for a gym with very few locations.
If you move away and don’t take care of this beforehand, it becomes a hassle. I reached out the same day I was charged after moving out of the area...roughly the 30-day mark...and asked to cancel. They refused, saying I had to either come in person or send that certified letter. So, I ended up driving over an hour back just to cancel in person.
When I arrived, they required another full 30-day payment to finalize the cancellation, even though I had already paid them in full a week and a half earlier. Bottom line: they charged me for two overlapping months and made me jump through hoops to stop the charges. Had I not had the $40 on hand that day, they would’ve continued charging me indefinitely.
It cost me about $70 plus gas and time to cancel a membership I wasn't even using. In a town with limited gym options, locals might not have much choice, but be warned: this policy is designed to trap you.
Thankfully, I’m now back in an area with more modern gyms that understand the importance of flexibility and respect their customers’ time....
Read moreAn honest review from someone who would rather be playing stardew valley on the couch. 1 I really debated between HT and PF, having been to both HT is just nicer overall however money is something to consider and for 15 bucks a month who could say no to PF however after reading all the terms and extra fees it comes out to about even. (Not to mention there's no yearly commitment they're trying to pressure you into) 2 I don't think I've been in to HT and someone WASN'T cleaning! It's incredible clean and everything looks so well taken care of. 3 everyone who works here looks like they actually practice what they preach, they are all fit and very knowledgeable. Anytime I have questions they have educated answers. 4 oops I didn't plan a workout! Hey Karly, give me something to make sure I can't walk right tomorrow and she gave me a list! Not just machines to fart around on but gave me a legitimately good workout. I'd say the only downside is WiFi is a bit unstable however get off your phone and do your set because I'm waiting for...

1yr Later Edit: It’s been about a year since my first review. With Anytime and Planet Fitness as competitors, I will say this is the best gym in Bastrop. It’s by far the cleanest gym I have ever been to and you can tell that the staff is very proud of their hard work.
The staff is super friendly, the manager greets each member as if they’re family. The machines are all really well maintained. I’ve never seen anything out of order.
The best part is that it’s never “super packed”. Sure, it gets busy, but there is enough equipment to go around that you if you did another exercise in your routine, odds are pretty good that equipment will open up by the time you’re finished.
I’ve only ever been to 1 yoga class, and the guy leading the class was a a fill-in. It wasn’t quite my preferred style of yoga, but it’s nice to have that as a...
