Planet Fitness — Attraction in Bellevue

The Environment: The environment at Planet Fitness Bellevue is so chill and accepting. I don’t have to worry about what other people are doing and I don’t feel pressured to match what others are doing. All the inclusivity sayings in the wall are incredibly encouraging to me as well. The Staff: The staff at Planet Fitness are so helpful and kind. They have always helped me in any way that I needed. Further they are knowledgeable about all aspects of the memberships as well as how to work machines. Further, they says have a great day every time I leave after my workout, which is very much appreciated. Cleanliness: The facility as a whole is very clean. The posters everywhere to wipe down a machine after using it assists in this. Further the trash cans that are placed all over the workout area make it easy to access cleaning spray. The men’s locker room is also incredibly clean. It has never smelled bad when I use the locker room and all the showers, stalls, urinals and locker area are kept tidy. Equipment: I feel that there is a wide range of equipment for me to use at Planet Fitness. I separate what part of my body I work on by day. There is so much variety that I can easily mix up my workouts! Further the TVs that are all around the building play amazing music. I also love that there is a tv in the men’s locker room. Attempted to cancel (because COVID) via certified letter (as described in their instructions) which the manager decided to ignore. Instead she “did me a favor,” proceeded not to cancel my membership and called me to leave a voicemail offering to put my membership on pause for 3 months.

Almost like they know and count on people not answering their telephones so they can blatantly disregard their wishes under the guise of “doing you a favor.”

Anyway I made the fair assumption after sending the Certified Mail containing my cancellation notice that, you know, they’d follow their own rules and do what the customer wanted regardless of the retention attempt.

I found out that was apparently not a fair assumption when I was promptly charged a membership fee the next month.

Funnily enough when I called about this I didn’t even have to ask for my money back. The person on the phone acknowledged it should’ve been followed up on and said they were issuing a refund, which could take 2-14 days.

Dear reader, it has now been 21 days without a refund! I know! But at least they cancelled the membership. Now they only owe me money. Progress.

I will attempt to call to recover the funds and update this review accordingly.

I’ve been going to Planet Fitness for a few months and wanted to share my take

👍 What’s Great: • Friendly staff: Always polite, welcoming, and helpful even during peak hours. • Clean facilities: Machines and mats get wiped down regularly. Bathrooms and locker rooms stay tidy. • Basic amenities included: Free Wi-Fi, ample water fountains, and a good variety of cardio and strength machines. • No-judgment vibe: As advertised, it’s chill. No gym bros hovering, no pressure to lift heavy.

👎 Room for Improvement: • Lack of extras: No classes, no sauna, no pool this is all about basic equipment. Which is understandable for $10/$15/$25 a month.

🎯 Who It’s Best For: • Beginners, casual gym-goers, or folks who want a clean, friendly place to work out without intimidation. • Budget-conscious users—especially with the standard plan (though the $25/mo PF Black “perk” plan gets guest privileges and a few visits per month to your non home club).

Summary: Planet Fitness nails the essentials: clean, friendly, welcoming, and affordable. I knocked off one star because of limited classes during non working hours. But if you want a solid, no-pressure gym to build healthy habits, this spot’s easy...
