Review for Alejandro Govan – Hub Town Tours on the Boston Freedom Trail ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently had the pleasure of taking a tour of the Boston Freedom Trail with Alejandro Govan from Hub Town Tours, and I can confidently say he is one of the best tour guides I have ever encountered! With a master’s degree in history, Alejandro’s knowledge of the Revolutionary War and the intricate details of Boston’s rich history is truly remarkable. From the moment the tour began, it was evident that Alejandro is not only incredibly well-educated but also deeply passionate about the subject matter. His ability to weave fascinating stories with historical facts made the experience both engaging and enlightening. He shared anecdotes and insights that went far beyond the textbook narratives, bringing the past to life in a way that captivated everyone in the group. What truly sets Alejandro apart is his friendly demeanor and his creative approach to storytelling. He has a natural ability to connect with people, creating an inviting atmosphere that encourages questions and discussions. His enthusiasm for history is contagious, and he makes sure each guest feels valued and included. Alejandro also possesses a reflective nature; he takes the time to consider different perspectives and encourages guests to think critically about history. This thoughtful approach invites deeper engagement and leaves you contemplating the broader implications of the events discussed long after the tour has ended. If you’re looking for a tour guide who is not only knowledgeable but also engaging and creative, look no further than Alejandro Govan. His expertise, warmth, and passion for Boston’s history make for an unforgettable experience. A huge shout-out to Alejandro for providing such a remarkable tour – I cannot recommend him highly enough! If you’re in Boston, don’t miss the chance to explore the Freedom Trail with him! Thank you, Alejandro, for a fantastic journey...

This was the best history lesson I've ever received on what really took place between 1840 and 1920. So many amazing women organized conventions, petitioned, lectured publicly, and published periodicals to gain momentum. They, their daughters and granddaughters devoted their lives to changing history that I didn't even hear about until now. Fun fact: I found out that I am a "Lucy Stoner". (Be sure to ask what that means.) Our tour guide came equipped with old maps and pictures to bring the past to life. She was so knowledgeable and answered every question. I could tell that our guide has a reverence for these suffragist heroines. I do, too. Even my husband enjoyed this tour immensely. This is one of my fondest memories in Boston and I come to Boston every year. Book this tour. You will learn so much and you will be reminded of how fortunate we are today to be able to vote, to own property, to keep our maiden names in marriage and to have custody of our children in divorce thanks to these exceptional women.

Caution: wear sneakers or comfortable walking shoes. For those who aren't familiar with Boston...the older streets have cobblestone and the terrain is hilly. Do not wear...

There are several tour operators to choose from and Hub Town Tours is a great one. We purchased our tickets through the Viator app, searching for Freedom Trail Tours ($39 each). Dave was our guide and he shared the most intriguing insights of the pre-revolutionary war period and personalities. He’s a previous educator and you can tell he loves his work. We passed by other walking tours where the guides dress up and “act” a character as they talk with a fake British accent which would’ve driven us crazy. So Dave is a history educator and always encouraged his group to ask questions (which we did!). This walk is about 3 miles so bring comfortable shoes (and water). We covered all 16 of the famous Freedom Trail historical landmarks following the famous “two brick” trail through old Boston. We learned so much and Dave made it great fun. He even gave us restaurant recommendations after the tour. I highly recommend Hub Town Tours for your next...

This small group tour of the Freedom Trail in Boston was the best guided tour our family has ever done - due in large part to our guide Alex! We learned about the people and events in Boston that led to the revolution and critical role the city played in our fight for independence. Alex was informative and enthusiastic about the history and his passionate style of storytelling captivated my teenage boys’ attention during the entire 2 1/2 - 3 hour tour! In addition, he had great pastry and dinner recommendations for the area of the North End near where our tour ended - such a perfect end to a most fun and memorable experience! We learned a ton and would sign up for any tour lead by Alex!

Wonderful tour with Zoe! If you want a truly educational experience without the pompous tourist masquerade…this is for you! No gimmicks, no over-the-top costumes, just solid historical insight delivered in a clear and engaging way. Zoe was knowledgeable and thoughtful, and she brought several lesser-known facts to light that even my history buff husband and son hadn’t heard before. On top of that, she was genuinely funny — witty in a way that added charm without taking away from the seriousness of the history. It felt more like a thoughtful, entertaining walking seminar than a touristy performance. A great choice if you're looking for substance over spectacle.
