If you are avoiding because it's small, don't! As others have noted, it seems like a bodega-sized establishment, but once inside, it's a good sized supermarket!
Inside you'll find a nice variety of items: fresh, frozen food, live seafood and fresh produce. Housewares as well (swing by before looking on Amazon)!
I had been looking for a pack of fresh udon noodles (without having to go up to Camberville), and Jia Ho did not disappoint! I found 3-4 brands at various prices. I ended up leaving with three 600-gram packs for under $9.
The store has registers on both entrances, not just Washington St, so if you are headed to South Station (a quick 10 minute walk away) you can check out on the back side! If you live on the Commuter Rail, it's a great way to grab specialty items that you might not be able to easily get in your neighborhood.
The store accepts contactless credit cards but does NOT accept Amex, so plan accordingly.
According to a sign at the register, debit cards have no minimum, but there is a reasonable $5 min. for credit purchases. With the variety of foods here, you will have no trouble hitting that minimum.

Read moreGreat selection of Asian greens, like gai lan (Chinese broccoli) and gai lan tips, bok choy, Shanghai choy, yu choy, watercress, mustard greens, pea greens...and a bunch I don't recognize. Fresh mushrooms, melons, jackfruit, Asian pears and citrus. A live fish and shellfish section smells fresh and looks clean. There's a frozen section with all the buns and dumplings and refrigerated tofu products. Lots of expensive imported candy and salty snacks to catch your eye while you're looking for other stuff: matcha Kit Kats, several flavors of Pocky and Melty Kiss chocolates, various flavors of fruit gummies, all the cookies and milk candies... if I had to criticize, I'd say they could use a wider selection of matcha chocolate and matcha candies. Love this place, and great location downtown...
