The Gem Smith — Attraction in Bountiful

Had an overall great experience at Gem Smith. It was the first place we went wedding band shopping and it was a pleasant experience. We got both of our bands here! I set apart a yellow gold ring for my fiancé and I paid the price I saw in the case. For me (or him) however, I had a simple very thin and small twisted rose gold band (in the photo below) and the price listed for the 14k was $199 but he ended up paying closer to $300 due to the “price of gold going up.” I got his band after he got mine. Why was the rose gold band “adjusted” in price when there’s more gold in his band? I understand that gold can go up a lot, but it still felt a bit bait and switchy when it’s an alloy with copper. That gave me a sour taste, but he didn’t mind it. Overall their prices are reasonable and we enjoy supporting smaller businesses. The men’s comfort wedding bands had such a customization we didn’t see elsewhere, which are perfect for my fiancé who has large knuckles and thin fingers. Even with that snafu, I would still go back for a jewelry set cause they’re fast, have a great variety, competitive prices, and they won’t charge you until you pickup which is a great perk. I’m over a year late in writing this review, but my now husband and I got our rings here and everything about the experience was incredible. Each person we worked with was so friendly and helpful. We’d looked at a few other stores, but it was at The Gem Smith that I found the ring I love, and quickly too! I was going to school out of state, so coming home at the end of the semester I didn’t have much time at all to get a ring and do all the wedding planning before our bridal photos and our wedding day. They finished our rings beautifully and in wonderful time! And when my husband realized his ring didn’t fit him very well, they were so accommodating! We showed up to exchange it for a different size, and, knowing our timetable, The Gem Smith had actually prepared two rings for us in different sizes to be sure one of them would work. We were able to buy them both and my husband found the size he preferred, and then we returned the other without any issue. They have gorgeous rings, incredible prices, fantastic customer service, and all around a family feel. I recently came into Gem Smith with my wedding ring that I had lost the diamond solitaire out of the setting. I also had inherited my grandmother's wedding rings. I had just thought of replacing the solitaire and having him appraise my grandmother's rings (I had been told by a family member that they were fake diamonds). As he looked at the rings and told me that they weren't fake and actually very nice diamonds, he suggested that he use those diamonds to fashion a new crown of diamonds on my wedding ring. It was such a GREAT idea! I had not thought of that. When I picked them up a couple of weeks later, I absolutely could not have been more thrilled! It turned out absolutely GORGEOUS! I have totally loved wearing it and showing it off. Now I have the best of both, the wedding bands that my husband gave me and the diamonds that we my grandmothers.
