MOUNTAIN TOP COOKIES THE CHOCOLATE LOVERS CRATE
Every once in a while, it's nice to send little packages to the people you love just to let them know you're thinking about them. They have quite a few different companies companies online that send goodies over but I decided to go with a cookie company this time. Mountain Top Cookie Shop seemed to be an online favorite. On their website, you can visit their 3 locations in Colorado or order from them online. If you can't decide which flavors to order, check out their Best Seller's or Baker's Choice option to get some ideas. I wanted to get a gift crate and found the Chocolate Lovers basket filled with Chocolate Chip, a Double Fudge White Chip, and a M&M cookie from our Quarter Pounders; a Snoopy (chocolate chip cookie dipped in milk chocolate) and an Ebony & Ivory (double fudge white chip dipped in white chocolate) from our Dipped Cookies; a Chocolate Avalanche (chocolate chip cookies w/chocolate frosting) and a Mary-O (double fudge white chip w/ vanilla frosting). Apart from their delicious cookies, they also include some smaller items like Malt Balls and chocolate covered pretzels.
After you have your items, creating a profile on their website is a quick process. I like to make a profile to check in with the progress of your order. Although you have an order number, it is difficult to meticulously follow through with the status of your order. If you call and ask one of their employees, they can let you know whether the item is still being prepared or shipped. I wouldn't bother spending the additional money on USPS Priority or USPS Priority 2 because your package will still be at the vendor a few days before they ship it. I would call and check before hand to see if they can get your package by the date you want it. On the shopping cart page they have a small link on the bottom where you can add a note to the seller if you wanted to include a letter...
Read moreRecommendation for the owner: Do not present your customers with "tip" options between 15-25% for buying pre-made bakery items and verbally try to guilt them into not selecting the no tip option. I could go next door, buy a T-shirt, and the cashier would fold it and put it in a bag. It would be ridiculous to be asked to provide a 20% tip at the point of sale for this. Likewise, it is ridiculous to be asked to provide a tip to put a cookie in a bag. Just because the item is food instead of clothing being handed over the counter does not mean a tip should be involved. A tip is for a service. I am surprised there are not more complaints about this.
This practice is extremely tacky and leaves your customers feeling manipulated, especially on an overpriced novelty item marketed to tourists. If you want to increase your margins by 20% in order to pay your employees more fairly without cutting into your profits, then add it to the cost of the cookie. It's not like somebody who is willing to pay $3 for a cookie is not going to pay $3.60.
You have to know this is ridiculous, so please stop it. It's bad business practice and you will lose...
Read moreWhy should you never make too many cookies at once?--It's too big of a whisk. Now that the joke is out of my system , let me start my review - we went looking for hot chocolate but were so smitten by the cookies that we ended up forgetting about the hot chocolate and came back with a bag of cookies instead . The store is really small ,just enough space for a few customers to stand at a time but Lots and lots of options . We had a hard time picking a few flavors and heated them before we consumed those , so rest assured we gave the cookies the respect they deserved . I can say with certainty that none of us were impressed !! The overall response was that they were way too sweet . The filling was definitely what brought the cookies down , the texture of the cookies was good though . I agree with the other reviews that the shop did not gave a very sanitary feel and everything felt cramped up , poorly stacked and displayed . They had a section for day old cookies however they did look older than a day to me .The employee...
