What an appropriate name for the store.
I scream every time I look at what my kids paid for a 2 scoop cone.
$8.25.
Plus, a 5% "service fee" (used to be "resort fee" several years ago, even though a resort they aint.)
AND!!!! If you pay with a credit card, get ready to get hit with a 3.62087327 percent fee. If you google it: most cards only charge the vendor about 1% for the service, AMEX is higher. So they are pocketing 2.6% of that fee to. Nice.....
Back to the gelato, which probably is better, in parts of Italy where I think it was invented (I'll google that and come back and correct this if I'm wrong)
So, let's go nuts and say their scoops are the average 4 oz scoop. ( some ice cream scoop devices are smaller and some are bigger, these are NOT bigger, I think I am being pretty generous with a 4oz guestiment here), anywayzzz, that means, you pay 9.39 for 8 oz of gelato. where if you wait for Safeway or City Market to have a sale and pay 1.99, 2.99, or 4.00, like the included photos for 14oz instead or go for the store brand and get a 48oz container...
You'll get a minimum of 175% more ice cream (not gelato) for 55% less money.
THINK ABOUT IT.
Yes, business owner. Make living not a killing. I did see the coupons in the free booklets, but that really doesn't even it out. Even the 14oz Ben & Jerry's at full price is still less than a 2 scoop cone. You are pricing yourself out of business.
Service fee, baker's fees, resort fee, stick it to the stupid tourist fee? We will stop putting up with it...

We have spent 4 days in Breck/Frisco area and made purchases in roughly 20-25 establishments, and any extra âfeesâ were openly listed on menus, explained by servers, etc. I Scream Gelato, however, is quite deceitful. This business does not disclose these extra charges, and thankfully I asked for a printed receipt. We got back to our condo and called to inquire. The staff that answered said she wasnât sure, including that the âresort feeâ was an âextra tax for the companyâ. I challenged this, so she called a manager (she told me there was not one there). The final explanation was this: The âresort feeâ is âsort of a city tax; an extra charge for the townââon top of state taxes (however note that not one other business tacked this on). The âservice chargeâ is âlike an automatic gratuityâ (also note that the electronic check out system, like most companies, prompts buyers to add gratuity as well). The call ended with the employee stating âif you want to come back tomorrow and complain to a manager, you canâ. May be helpful if we didnât have to leave at 6 am to catch our flight home

Read moreWe were excited to go to this place this evening after dinner. Don't get me wrong, the Gelato was decent but the customer service could use some major improvement. I didn't receive a single smile from the blonde girl (who strongly looked like she didn't want to be there) when greeted or when placing in my order. I was told I was only allowed to try/taste 2 samples of flavors - which has never been my experience at other shops, where I'm encouraged to sample as many as I want. I didn't care for the 2nd flavor as much but again, I wasn't "allowed" to try another one, so I just randomly chose another flavor I thought might be good? My sister quickly asked me what flavors I got but then I was barked at with a frustrated "Ma'am?!" to go make payment.
I would totally understand all of the above if it was busy but the store was dead....We live in the area, so I really wanted to like this place but it left a bad taste in my mouth. I hope the owner will change the sample policy and either follow-up and coach the employee on her attitude or at least hire people that treat their customers nicely. 2...
