Came in a few times to sell some singles, and every time I ask what they pay and they say they pay 40% cash and 50% store credit of current market price. After my first time going there I had scanned about $400 worth of cards and also adjusted conditions accordingly. Which I feel I have a professional eye for as no other shops have ever disagreed with me on more than a card or two out of hundreds here and there. But what they actually do is go by TCG low and I’m assuming lowest condition on each card possible. First few times I have had to walk out without selling because their offers are realistically about 10-15% of current market value. I finally decided to give them one last opportunity as it was getting late and I needed the funds as I missed my bank, and the first person I talked to was willing to help, I told him I don’t have to sell all of what I brought in but asked if we could go through 30-50 cards with more than an hour left of being open and the other employee was just flat out rude AF, said he’d only do 15. So the first guy said “I can do them if you don’t mind” and the second guy snaps and says no I have to do it. Of course they picked all the most expensive cards, at first like most places but then the second guy swapped them out last minute and finally gave me an offer and the total offer was a few dollars more than the price of just one card. I asked him to round up two dollars he wouldn’t do it. So I said can I add another card to make up the difference and pulled out a $7.50 card he said no so I grabbed another card that was $10 and he said for both I can round up to $40 (his offer was $38 on about $230 market price on TCG app with conditions factored) Whatever man take it ya greedy chump. Use it to buy some febreeze for the store. I have been here before and know their game and didn’t have the energy nor was I in the position to not sell something since I missed my bank and it was getting late. No other way to put it, these guys are crooks. And the funny thing is the way he talked to me was like I was the bad guy. Not to mention all of their cards in the case (that I personally was looking at which was about 8-10) were marked up 150% of MSRP. Pokémon cards that sell for $110-$125 MAX marked at $189.99… So far this is the cheapest paying and highest priced LCS I have been to in MN. Definitely would never spend a dime here like most hobby shops, they buy some of your stuff you buy some of their stuff! Not here. You’re better off going to Issues Needed Comics and getting treated with much more respect and dignity. Greedy pigs at Dreamers Vault...
Read moreThis store has gone downhill fast. Ive been coming here for about 2 years now, have spent over $1,500 (yes, I checked my cc statements). They have recently been selling all Pokemon products at scalpers prices or higher. They had the Lillies Tournament Collection priced at $70! That's $17/pack. To add to that issue, their singles are overpriced as well. I encourage anyone who decides to continue shopping here to have TCG Player ready so you can check prices, because they are way higher than market. I tried to give these guys a chance a few more times but I just cant continue to support a store that does business this way. I asked the gentleman at the counter if they would at least match the market price and got a firm no. Unfortunately this was the last chance I was going to give these guys. There are many other great card stores around and I will drive a few extra miles to shop with them.
In regards to the reply from the store. I do understand msrp being a suggested price. I also understand you needing to charge slightly above the msrp, as you have the overhead of being a brick and mortar store front and the Pokemon market being absolutely insane right now. However, what you are doing is taking advantage of the hype and trying to cash in as much as possible while its happening. This behavior has lost you a loyal customer. I am fine with paying over msrp to support a local business, but 2x-3x msrp is outrageous and unfair.
You are losing customers that will support your business when this hype eventually dies down.
In regards to singles. I gave your employee the opportunity to re-price a card and he wouldn't even look at the card I was...
Read moreFor me, it's the Dreamers Vault. The hobby shop. I even ask for extra sauce packets when buying good here and the staff is so friendly and more than willing to oblige.
One time I asked for sauce packets and they gave me three. I said, "Wow, three for free!" and the nice friendly Dreamer's Vault worker laughed and said, "I'm going to call you 3-for-free!".
Now the staff greets me with "hey it's 3-for-free!" and ALWAYS give me three packets. It's such a fun and cool atmosphere at my local Dreamer's Vault hobby shop, I go there at least 3 times a week for lunch and a large monster energy with no sugar instead of sugar, 1-2 times for breakfast on the weekend, and maybe once for dinner when I'm in a rush but want a great meal that is affordable, fast, and can be enjoyed while playing a game of Magic The Gathering.
I even dip my doritos in sauce, it's delicious! What a...
