I would like to take a moment to share my recent experiences at Scheels, both positive and negative, which I believe illustrate the importance of customer service in your establishment.
On New Year's Day, I visited Scheels with the intention of exploring optics for a new project, as well as sourcing some hard-to-find ammunition. I approached a young associate to inquire about the availability of 458 Socom ammunition. He appeared unfamiliar with this specific type and kindly directed me to a more knowledgeable representative.
Shortly thereafter, Alana from the department approached me to assist. We discussed the ammunition, and she promptly searched online to verify its availability, noting that it was not part of the store's inventory. I then took the opportunity to browse the reloading equipment and ventured to the optics section, where I engaged in reviewing various products via YouTube and took notes on those in stock for future research. Alana approached me once again, inquiring if I had any questions. Our conversation naturally evolved into a discussion about my projects, and I found myself increasingly confident in sharing my interests. Her insights led me to consider her recommendations, including a brand I had not previously encountered—TriggerTech. Despite initially leaning towards a Timney trigger I had just purchased, Alana's thorough explanation of TriggerTech’s offerings convinced me to buy one based on her suggestion. Had I remained in the optics area, I have no doubt she could have similarly influenced my decision there.
Overall, my interaction with Alana was exceptional, setting a high standard for customer service and making me feel genuinely valued.
In contrast, my experience in the firearms section was less than favorable. When I inquired about B&T products, one salesman responded dismissively, seemingly questioning my knowledge. Despite my efforts to explain the brand’s high-end offerings and showing him their website, his demeanor remained condescending. Another salesman appeared unfamiliar with the brand, and when the first salesman joined our conversation, he reiterated that they did not carry B&T products, claiming to have over twenty years of industry experience. This prompted laughter from a nearby customer, who later revealed he owned B&T products himself.
While one associate displayed humility and a willingness to learn, the initial interaction was disheartening and belittling. I left feeling undervalued as a customer, especially since my inquiry was motivated by a genuine intent to make a purchase that day, contingent on the product's availability. It is crucial for all associates, regardless of their tenure, to recognize that no one can possess exhaustive knowledge about firearms. A condescending tone does little to cultivate enduring customer relationships. I encourage the gentlemen in the firearms department to take cues from Alana’s exemplary customer service approach.
Alana, should you read this, please know that your professionalism and dedication to customer satisfaction are commendable. You are a valuable asset to your team, and your approach is precisely what organizations in sales-oriented environments require.
Thank you for considering...
Read moreAbout week ago, a friend of our family told us about this place. Did they sell everything? It's great customer service is awesome so we had to try it. We've been living in Arizona for six years and it's about an hour away from our house so we finally went And we loved the store. Customer service from the minute you walk in to the minute you leave every department that you go to you're always be acknowledged if there's anything that you need, her first purchase was to handguns. We got some stuff we were dealing with one of the managers. His name is Ben. He was awesome. He wanted to find out exactly what we were looking for to help us find what would fit for us. That right there said is the perfect example of great customer service so after that department, we went to look at some other things that went great. We ended up going there the very next day and then we met a young lady from the sports department we were looking for some Eagle stuff. Yes eagle so just to break it down. We are from Philly. We only been here again six years so we still miss our hometown and we still have to represent. But the ladies name we were dealing with was Austin she helped us out a whole lot. We ended up getting some stuff and then she told me that they were getting Super Bowl stuff in and if I want it, she would take our number down and then let us know. Well, the very next day she told me about some things that came in. We went in there and we grabbed some things and were still waiting for some other things to come in, but that was great again Customer service. So far, it has been great. We also met the manager of that department JJagar he was also great. He was telling us about the T-shirts because we were telling him that online it wasn't good so he was explaining to us about how they were getting T-shirt in which ones were going to be different from anything that you see online and that was great and he wasn't lying because I looked online and you couldn't find the same T-shirt. So with all this, that is great Customer Service because you go into some stores and it feels like you're asking somebody for money to help you not good people just want help on trying to find what they're coming into the store to look for and I will tell you another thing I don't think the prices are bad in the store he was telling me that some of the stuff for the Super Bowl might be a little up because of the special designs they are putting on all the supply. We gotta go up there this weekend again I guess I would love the store. We love the atmosphere and the store is great looking even going into the bathroom super clean so with all that said and done that's a...
Read more[Updated June 2025] You won't find a better place for all your outdoor/clothing needs and everything in-between. I came in today to find shoes, Amelie went above and beyond to assist, I couldn't find shoes that worked for me but that's all on me. Amelie did scan my feet but they didn't have the insole I needed in stock but it is available on their website. She also let me know they have a stellar return policy.
I don't remember her name but in the clothing/fitting area a woman with glasses went all the way to the back storage area trying to track down some Body Glide, but her system must have been lying to her. Instead of coming back empty handed, she returned with a very similar alternative which I bought.
I needed to find a lock for luggage or something similar, Anthony in the bike area assisted with leading me back over to the area where the woman who assisted me before to look at some small locks. Those didn't work so he led me to Dimitri and from there I went to the gun section and Ty helped me find some locks. In-fact Ty really helped me out in a bind, above and beyond, every single employee in this store.
I stopped a manager and let them know about their shoe section, there is ZERO airflow over there. They need a fan or better AC or something in there, it's warm. He seemed friendly.
Great experience.
[Original Review - Sept/Oct 2024] This place is HUGE.
I strolled over to their shoe section, absolutely massive, I like Brooks and they have ALL the Brooks. They have Hoka, they have brands I've never heard of, they have Danners, they have every hiking shoe and boot you can imagine. Hunter? They have a whole separate section for you.
Sports? They have every sport you can imagine, need kid's gear? You can find it here.
Having issues finding something? They have more employees than I have ever seen in a store in my life. They are very well staffed. The layout is massive. The bathrooms are clean and nice looking. They even have two little bowling lanes and a shooting gallery and a golf fitting room for custom golf gear. They have more cool stuff than I have ever seen before. Guns? Check. Ammo? Check. They have an enormous selection of bows and arrows.
I mean they have a ferris wheel in the building! This is like an amusement park, grab your wallet, you're going to need it.
They even have a cafe in there somewhere and Legos and a HUGE pet section, they have everything, I am not joking. Just see it for yourself.
Highly recommend!! Super...
